SRNL's Environmental and Legacy Management Directorate is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Research Associate, entry-level to support research and development activities in the on-line monitoring group related to actinide separation, hydrogen isotope processing, and nuclear materials processing.

The position will assist in various projects that support hydrogen isotope separation, impurity removal, and hydrogen storage in addition to hands on work for monitoring actinide separation through analytical chemistry. The position will involve operation and troubleshooting of analytical chemistry equipment, especially those based on optical methods (spectrometers, lasers, detectors, etc.). Work scope may include contributions to process support of operating facilities at the Savannah River Site. A strong grasp of fundamentals, e.g. from an instrumental analysis course and/or research experience, is required.

Other duties/responsibilities may include completing all training required to perform the assigned work, following guidance/working with more experienced personnel to execute hands-on work activities, documenting activities in electronic lab notebooks, maintaining housekeeping and supplies in laboratory modules, and assisting with excessing equipment or waste removal from laboratories. This work requires the candidate to be physically present at the work location with limited opportunities for telework based on need and at management's discretion.
