Position Summary
Reporting to the Director of University Communications and Media Relations, the Senior Associate Director of Public Relations for Academics and Research will help to lead positive, proactive earned media efforts for the university.

This individual will serve as one of the primary media contacts for the university, but will focus on proactively working with local, regional and national reporters to help share the Temple story. This individual, who supervise a team of two, will work closely with the Office of Research, the Provost's office, and the university's 17 schools and colleges to enhance the visibility of the university's scholarly achievements, groundbreaking research and faculty expertise.
On any given day, the Senior Associate Director of Public Relations for Academics and Research will be writing news stories, news releases, pitch emails, opinion pieces and other communications that could be used for any of the university's Strategic Marketing and Communications' channels. The ideal candidate will be a proactive communicator with a deep understanding of media relations, academic environments and research promotion. They should have a demonstrated track record of achieving positive earned media placements at the highest level. Experience in a higher education setting is also preferred.

Perform other duties as assigned.

NOTE: 3 writing samples and a cover letter are required.

Required Education and Experience
* Bachelor's degree
* At least 5 years of directly related experience required, preferably in higher education.
* An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Preferred
* Master's degree

This position is assigned a hybrid work arrangement (on-campus and remote), the duration of this hybrid work arrangement is at the discretion of Temple University and the Department.
