What we are looking for

The Sustainable Materials Management ("SMM") Project Professional will be responsible for leading our waste characterizations, SB 1383 assessments and lid-flip projects in California, as well as providing report writing, data analysis and review, and outreach support for projects being conducted for private and public clients. This individual will possess and provide regulatory compliance knowledge and/or guidance. The SMM Senior Project Professional will work with clients to improve the management and profitability of waste reduction, recycling, composting and special waste programs. The SMM Project Professional will serve as a Project Lead on one or more projects, as well as be responsible for assisting with business development efforts such as writing proposals, presenting at conferences, and looking for leads and new clients. Assignments will be conducted in an office setting and in the field. This individual will report to our Pasadena office, with the ability to work hybrid.



How you can make an impact

    Plan, organize and coordinate sustainable materials management activities and programs specifically related to waste characterizations and audits.
  • Complete waste audits and characterization studies to assess the success or needs of diversion programs and document consumption patterns.
  • Assess client programs and policies to ensure regulatory compliance and suggest and/or implement improvements as needed.
  • Assist with the design and implementation of recycling and waste programs.
  • Train and educate clients on SMM programs and compliance.
  • Analyze collected data to determine compliance with applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare data validation and calculations for reports and in support of client compliance.
  • Compile data for and prepare a variety of reports, studies, and related information for decision-making purposes as required by the client and regulatory agencies.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of relevant regulations and requirements and inform clients of new or revised regulations and requirements that may impact them.
  • Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, and clients as needed.
  • Draft client proposals by interacting with clients to understand their business objectives, and to deliver solutions that meet the client's technical needs and requirements.
  • Coordinate and manage fieldwork for multiple projects.
  • Lead, mentor, train and manage junior level staff.
  • Coordinate with sub-contractors, sub-consultants and material and equipment suppliers for project related purposes.
  • Assist with business development by identifying new clients or work.
  • Review technical documents to verify completeness and conformance to requirements.
  • Attend industry related conferences, continuing education/technical trainings and SCS Technical Division Meetings.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience required.
  • Experience leading waste characterizations and audits
  • Knowledge of applicable regulatory agencies and applicable codes preferred.
  • Ability to travel up to 30% required.
  • Valid Driver's License with a driving record in good standing required.


Pay Range

USD $89,000.00 - USD $100,000.00 /Yr.
