Purpose

To provide proactive and productive Advancement Services support within the College of Liberal Arts (COLA) Development Office, with consistent focus on high-level content creation in support of our donors, students, and faculty and implement creative strategies to retain new donors to the COLA Donor Family.

Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Director of Development-Advancement Services, the Development Associate will enhance the College's engagements with alumni, donors, leadership, parents, faculty, students, and staff by leading, managing, and executing the following tasks and projects:

Proposal Writing

  • Crafting detailed, descriptive, and compliant gift proposals that highlight COLA's strengths and align with prospective donor passions.

  • When donor signs, documenting and tracking agreements within database.

  • Further enhance processes to ensure maximum creativity, efficiency, and effectiveness of strategic engagement efforts.

  • Working closely with UDO Proposal Writing team for best practices.

Promotional Collateral Creation

  • Deploying exemplary project management skills and working with stakeholders to draft, design, schedule, edit, and distribute official publications and documents that inform, educate, or promote COLA Development work and COLA vision, mission, and values, to external and internal audiences.

  • Research and jointly partner with Public Affairs to draft fundraising promotionals on behalf of departments, centers, institutes, and programs, ensuring that digital platforms are accessible and operable.

Annual Giving Campaign Coordination

  • Partner with Annual Giving to create effective print and digital COLA fundraising campaigns.

Development-Focused Giving Pages

  • Monitor all College unit webpages for Development or Development-related content to ensure accuracy and adherence to College and University standards.

New Donor Stewardship

  • Assisting Frontline team to build and maintain relationships with new donors to encourage their continued support.

  • Coordinate Thanks Day efforts to thank new donors.

  • Development CDO voice in messaging to new donors to maintain retention.

Event Guest Welcome and Tracking

  • Assume day-of event coordination with special focus on welcoming guests in attendance.

Advancement Support

  • Along with all Advancement Team Staff, assist with DCIP relations and compliance projects as directed by Director of Development-Advancement Services, including annual letters project.

  • Along with all Advancement Team Staff, participate in gift processing, interdepartmental transits, and mailings.

  • Along with all Advancement Team Staff, keep database up to date and assist donors with requests, especially with the COLA Advancement and COLA Events Outlook platforms.

  • Along with all staff, assist with the coordination of regular College events, including logistics, set up, and break down.

Other related functions as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Exemplary writing skills and experience. Bachelor's degree. More than one year of experience in communication, marketing, public relations, fundraising, or interpersonal field. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, tight deadlines, and work well under pressure. Proven ability to work independently and as a team member. Demonstrated high attention to detail. Excellent relationship building, interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills. High level of professionalism and customer service.

Preferred Qualifications

Putting creative ideas into action. Proven ability to write correct, clear, concise, and compelling content across traditional and contemporary formats befitting the liberal arts. Experience in and appreciation for the Liberal Arts. Proficiency in Microsoft Office. Demonstrated experience interacting with key university constituents, alumni, and donors. Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with university administrators, deans, faculty, and staff in providing good client and customer service. Proficiency in University of Texas policies, rules, and procedures. Experience with VIP, Word, and Acrobat. Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Salary Range

$50,000 + depending on qualifications

Employment Eligibility:

Retirement Plan Eligibility:

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
