Description

Starting Salary Range: $144,000.00 - $154,000.00 - position is also eligible for an annual bonus if individual performance and company objectives are met.

As our Lead Balancing and Dispatch, you will play an important role in keeping the lights on for 45 million people. Our team takes on the critical and exciting challenge of dispatching and controlling over a thousand generating units of diverse fuel mix and technology to ensure continuous balance between MISO's load, generation, and interchange and to support the Eastern Interconnection frequency.

Our Lead Balancing and Dispatch will lead our operators, ensure they are well-positioned to successfully execute in real-time, and are provided responsive and effective support. Additionally, our Lead Balancing and Dispatch will help maintain and grow MISO's system balancing and dispatch expertise as well as serve as an advocate and champion for our team inside and outside of the control room. The goal is to ensure reliable, efficient, and compliant execution of MISO's Dispatch and MISO's Balancing Authority (BA) functions, as well as positioning the functions to proactively adapt to changing operational and business landscape.

You will have the opportunity to help:



  • drive the implementation of our new structure
  • operate the grid during normal, abnormal, and emergency conditions
  • develop and execute strategy to ensure sustainable and robust business operation
  • drive incremental and evolutionary changes to processes, practices, and tools


In one year as our Lead Balancing and Dispatch, you will know you were successful if:



  • collaborated with Shift Managers and other leaders to develop our operators and ensure they are continuing to be positioned to successfully maintain reliability in all operating conditions
  • collaborated with other Operations leaders to advance implementation of our new structure in a smooth manner
  • collaborated with leadership to identify and drive implementation of enhancements to our processes, practices, and tools
  • collaborated with leadership to develop a stable and sustainable business operations and create an atmosphere built around MISO's core value
  • deepened your knowledge of our area and driven the growth of system balancing and dispatch expertise at MISO


We are looking for hardworking professionals who have:



  • a Bachelor's degree or equivalency established with a combination of education, training, certifications, and directly related experience
  • demonstrated experience leading and influencing teams


We would also prefer candidates with the following:



  • five or more years of electric utility industry or RTO experience


Appropriate level will be determined based upon experience and knowledge.
