Position Description


Primary Purpose and Essential Functions
The Thomas J. Long School of Pharmacy seeks applicants with a strong background in general ambulatory care or general acute care pharmacy practice. The person appointed will teach pharmaceutical care/therapeutics courses, case-based courses, and pharmacy skills courses in the Pharm.D. curriculum. All specialties will be considered and you are encouraged to apply. In addition to teaching, service on departmental, school, and university committees is expected. Experience in research and/or scholarship is highly desired. A Pharm.D. with a PGY1 residency/fellowship or equivalent practice experience is required; preference will be given to candidates with a PGY2. Applicants must have excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Must be licensed or eligible for pharmacist licensure in California; if not licensed in California, licensure within one year of hire is required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be licensed or eligible for licensure in California
  • Pharm.D. with a PGY1 residency/fellowship or equivalent experience
  • Strong background in ambulatory or acute care pharmacy practice
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)

Preferred Qualifications

  • PGY2 in ambulatory care or acute care

  • Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures.

Physical Requirements

Requires extended periods of sitting and repetitive hand/wrist motion while using a computer keyboard and phone. Occasional standing, walking, climbing stairs, bending, stooping, and reaching. Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.

Work Environment/Work Week/Travel:
Work is performed Monday through Friday, and some weekends for clinical outreach may be required.

Hiring Range $125,000.00 (We consider factors such as, but not limited to, scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's qualifications, internal equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.)
