The RoleAdvanced Distribution Management System (ADMS) is a high growth area in our business that unlocks an electric distribution utility's ability to monitor, manage, control, and optimize the grid. As an Power Systems Engineer you will be involved in all aspects of the successful delivery of systems to our customers. You will use your experience with utility operations, ADMS systems, and business processes to lead and advise utility clients as they implement ADMS solutions. As a highly skilled individual contributor, you will be a trusted advisor who is able to engage with all levels of the utility from field crews to executive management. You will have the opportunity to work with functional teams including ADMS Application Engineers, the Architecture and Product Solution teams, and our Software Development organization. You will influence and provide guidance on the future direction of ADMS products and be a "voice for the utility" within AspenTech. This exciting role will report to the Manager, ADMS Project Consulting. Your Impact
  • Take a lead role in the creation and deployment of automated testing tools such as Locust, K6, Python, and other frameworks developed by AspenTech.
  • Contribute in strategic initiatives to optimize deployment processes for project systems to enhance both efficiency and effectiveness. Lead in the development and refinement of standardized templates and protocols to facilitate these improvements.
  • As a key Automation Subject Matter Export (SME), effectively guide and mentor internal teams, 3rd party collaborators, and customer technical experts with best practices and standards.
  • Proactively engage in automated non-functional testing to pinpoint limitations and areas for enhancement in both AspenTech's Advanced Distribution Management Systems (ADMS) and the associated test frameworks. Collaborate closely with development teams to maintain a consistent and comprehensive approach to product testing, ensuring optimal performance and quality.
  • Assume responsibility for optimizing and managing a comprehensive suite of internal ADMS Delivery scripts, encompassing simulation, configuration validation, custom solutions, and other critical functionalities, ensuring they remain efficient, up-to-date, and aligned with organizational standards.
What You'll Need
  • Bachelor's degree preferrable in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, Systems Engineering or related technical field.
  • Minimum of 3+ years of project implementation or operational experience, preferably in the utility or automation industry
  • Experience with scripting using languages such as Python, Ruby, Bash, and PowerShell. Experience leading technical/software workshops with small groups of people. Experience with, SVN, GitHub, SDLC, Linux Server operating systems, comprehensive knowledge of networking, firewalls, load balancers, TCP/IP, security standards.Familiarity with SQL and MongoDB.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, organizational and interpersonal skills, analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to multi-task on several projects in parallel in a fast-paced environment. Business Analysis and Change Management concepts and implementation. Strong commitment to providing superior customer service.

The salary range for this role is $77,900.00 - $97,400.00. This range represents what we in good faith believe is the range possible for base compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range based on several factors. This range may be modified in the future. This role is also eligible for bonus or variable incentive pay. Additionally, we offer a comprehensive benefits package including paid time off, charitable giveback day, medical/dental/vision insurance, and retirement benefits to eligible employees.
