Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit
The Joint School of Nanoscience and Nanoengineering ( JSNN) is a joint venture of North Carolina A&T State University ( NCAT) and the University of North Carolina at Greensboro ( UNCG). JSNN's research and educational programs focus on the emerging areas of Nanoscience and Nanoengineering. The strengths of the two universities in the basic sciences and in engineering make them ideal partners for this interdisciplinary School. Nanotechnology is often referred to as convergent technology because it utilizes knowledge from a diverse array of disciplines including biology, chemistry, physics, engineering and technology. JSNN's Professional Master of Science and Ph.D. degree programs will help meet the need for trained professionals in the emerging high technology industries using nanotechnology.
Position Summary
Provides leadership and coordination of the centralized financial planning and fiscal management functions for the School of Nanoscience and Nanoengineering ( JSNN), a collaborative academic unit between North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University and the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Works with contacts at both main campuses and Gateway Research Park to enable the successful operation of the School. Administers and manages the business and financial affairs of the School and facilitates the management of financial resources including State appropriated funds, business related duties associated with specialized areas such as accounting, budgeting, and/or auditing. This positions also includes financial management, personnel administration/management, payroll, purchasing, inventory control, facilities coordination/planning, information technology assessment/planning, event planning and management, and closely related work. This position is also responsible for assisting with event planning and coordination, which includes weekly seminars, visits to JSNN, and periodic workshops and symposia. The position may perform or have oversight of account reconciliation, maintenance and reporting of financial data, financial projections, cash/receipts management, personnel planning, and facilities management.

Minimum Qualifications

BACHELOR'S DEGREE IN BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION, PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION, OR RELATED BUSINESS AREA; OR EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE. ALL DEGREES MUST BE RECEIVED FROM APPROPRIATELY ACCREDITED INSTITUTIONS.

Additional Required Certifications, Licensures, and Certificates
Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in financial management, personnel administration/management, payroll, purchasing, inventory control, event coordination/planning, and information technology assessment/planning.
  • Ability to oversee accounts reconciliation, maintenance and report financial data, financial projections, cash/receipts management, personnel planning, and facilities management.
