Overview

Selective is seeking a Regional Director Staff Counsel for our Northeast or Mid-West region. This role directs the performance of all regional staff Counsel offices within an assigned territory. Ensures superior performance in representing insureds involved in insurance claim litigation and containing overall claims expense. All job duties and responsibilities must be carried out in compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements. This is a remote position, but the ideal candidate must reside in the Northeast or Mid-West region.


Responsibilities

  • Supervises and directs the work of Managing Attorneys in assigned territory. Has overall accountability for the quality and quantity of work and the performance of all personnel in assigned territory.
  • Oversees the management and alignment of Staff Counsel offices within the assigned territory.
  • Establishes the regional Staff Counsel strategy compliant with the overarching Claims Litigation strategy. Maintains alignment with other Regional Directors and Claims Litigation leadership.
  • Responsible for contributing to the design of departmental and regional goals, and the accomplishment of those goals. Provides direction to the Managing Attorneys in setting and accomplishing office level goals.
  • Meets with Corporate and Regional Claim and Underwriting management to develop and maintain collaborative working relationships.
  • Conducts periodic office audits and inspections to insure proper case handling and adherence to company policy.
  • Represents company on various task forces or committees.
  • Prepares, leads and/or conducts Claims webinars and workshops.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • 3-5 years of experience in a management role required.
  • 10-15 years of litigation and/or industry experience required.
  • Experience as a leader of leaders preferred
  • Mix of private practice and in house litigation or management preferred.
  • Juris Doctor degree from an ABA accredited law school required.

The actual base salary is based on geographic location, and the range is representative of salaries for this role throughout Selective's footprint. Additional considerations include relevant education, qualifications, experience, skills, performance, and business needs.


Pay Range

USD $184,000.00 - USD $253,000.00 /Yr.
