Summary of Position

The Hospital-Based Pathology Operations Manager is responsible for coordinating hospital-based pathology operations and acts as the primary point of contact between affiliated hospitals and the operational departments within Inform Diagnostics, CSI Laboratories and Fulgent Oncology. The Manager will oversee the efficient delivery of services from all Fulgent subsidiaries and will maximize the utilization of pathology resources.

Key Job Elements



  • Make regular monthly visits (at a minimum), to affiliate hospitals and interface with key stakeholders, including laboratory managers, lab personnel, histology personnel, medical office staff, and C-suite leaders.
  • Coordinate information flow between physicians and lab personnel with the Vice President of Hospital-Based Sales and the Fulgent and affiliated business development teams.
  • Work with physicians on all needed send-outs and consultations to expedite delivery of sub-specialty services to local physicians and patients.
  • Work effectively with stakeholders and vendors for pathology technical services, ensuring quality and maintaining consistency for our partners.
  • Assist in coordination of QC review and tracking of practice metrics for each hospital affiliate. Ensure timely reporting of metrics to hospital lab leadership.
  • Work closely with medical practice management and contribute to quality reporting and initiatives aimed at improvement in identified areas.
  • Develop and analyze business unit performance metrics and budget variances for each affiliate hospital and participate in weekly hospital-based pathology division meetings.
  • Work with Executive Leadership to monitor and review financial performance, including opportunities to improve staffing efficiencies.
  • Manage the hiring of talent, performance appraisals, and pay reviews of hospital-based laboratory staff.
  • Help coordinate on-site and call coverage schedules monthly for each hospital practice site.
  • Coordinate courier activities.
  • Ensure that proper equipment is available to support pathologists at each of the hospital affiliate locations.
  • Assist in resolving medical and administrative issues.
  • Engage with the Inform Diagnostics Executive Leadership team as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Knowledge/Experience



  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum 7 years' experience in a physician practice operations capacity or in hospital operations with pathology practice experience preferred; strong preference for 10+ years of experience.
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced, high-volume deadline driven environment.
