Overview

The Building Safety & Food Safety Inspector and Trainer will be responsible for conducting regular inspections, identifying potential hazards, and ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations related to building safety and food service operations. Inspections will be conducted on site at both the NAS Pensacola and Corry Station food service galleys on base.

This role will also include developing and delivering training programs to employees on best practices in workplace safety, emergency preparedness, and food handling procedures. Quality customer service is expected to be provided to the employees and customers at all times. Knowledge and willingness to learn all aspects of the job is a requirement of the position.

Qualifications:

  • Must have a minimum of three (3) years of experience in food service. Large scale and/or institutional food service a plus.
  • Must have a minimum of one (1) year of experience supervising or leading teams.
  • Experience leading teams of employees with varying skills and abilities a plus
  • Must be of strong ethical character, possess good decision-making ability, collaborate well with subordinates and management, and be a team player
  • An understanding of Material SDS sheets is required.
  • Experience with providing one-on-one and group training presentations is preferred.
  • Must possess food safety knowledge (ServSafe certification a plus)
  • Must understand oral and/or written instructions and speak and write English fluently.
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Must interact appropriately with all others by providing great service to customers, fair and consistent leadership to team members, and quickly communicating operational needs to management
  • Must have good communication skills (written and verbal)

Role Requirements

  • Conduct regular inspections of facilities to identify safety hazards and ensure compliance with OSHA, FDA, and local health department regulations.
  • Perform risk assessments for both building safety and food safety operations.
  • Develop and implement safety protocols, emergency procedures, and food handling guidelines.
  • Provide training sessions to employees on proper safety procedures, including fire safety, sanitation, personal protective equipment (PPE) usage, and food safety best practices.
  • Investigate incidents and accidents, document findings, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with all food safety regulations, including HACCP principles and allergen control measures.
  • Maintain and update safety documentation, inspection reports, and training records.
  • Collaborate with facility management and food service teams to ensure ongoing safety improvements.
  • Stay up to date with industry regulations, trends, and best practices to enhance safety programs.
  • Act as a liaison with regulatory agencies and assist in preparing for inspections and audits.

Physical Requirements

Most work will take place indoors. While performing this job's duties, the team member is regularly required to bend, crouch, walk, climb stairs and ladders, reach above head, sit (to drive) and lift up to 40 pounds. Will occasionally be required to lift or move up to 50 pounds. Will require working safely with cleaning chemicals and janitorial tools and equipment. May require working in hot, cold, and/or humid environments. May require working in a loud environment. Will require use of personal protective equipment.
