MH: Respiratory Therapy-(Full Time, Days) Job Summary: The Educator-Respiratory Care reports to the Respiratory Manager. This position plans, develops, implements, and evaluates educational activities for Respiratory Care and provides opportunities to enrich skills and enhance effectiveness. Provides leadership in the educational process and transformation of care to evidenced based practice at the bedside with emphasis on safety initiatives, quality care, and best practices supported by innovative technology. Collaborates with other members of the management team to identify and address the learning needs of staff in a cost-effective manner. Provides hands-on management that engages staff in adopting a model of accountability, empowerment, and excellence in practice. Maintains in-depth clinical knowledge in respiratory care and demonstrates clinical expertise in bedside practice. Serves as a clinical resource and coach for staff and influences the workforce to achieve high level of performance reflecting the vision and values of the organization. Performs other duties as needed. Education and Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Respiratory Therapy, Health Administration, Education or related health field required or in progress, with expected completion within two years of hire date. Master's Degree preferred. Three years of experience in Respiratory Care required. Three years of experience in teaching related clinical programs or leadership preferred. Knowledge and Skills: Basic knowledge of healthcare law and finance preferred. Able to read; write legibly; speak in English with professional quality; use computer, printer, and software programs necessary to the position, e.g., LLEMR (Loma Linda Electronic Medical Record), Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point, Access; operate/troubleshoot basic office equipment required for the position. Able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; be assertive and consistent in following and/or enforcing policies; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; lead, supervise, teach, and collaborate; accept direction. Able to communicate effectively in English in person, in writing, and on the telephone; think critically; work independently with minimal supervision; perform basic math and statistical functions; manage multiple assignments effectively; compose written material; work well under pressure; problem solve; organize and prioritize workload; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail. Able to distinguish colors; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone; identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the work place; see adequately to read computer screens, medical records, and written documents necessary to position. Demonstrated competencies in respiratory care, administration, education and/or staff development required. Licensures and Certifications: Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner, State of California required. Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) required. Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association required. Basic Arrhythmia Recognition and Treatment (BART) required. Adult Critical Care Specialist (ACCS), Neonatal Practitioner Specialist (NPS), or Asthma Educator Certified (AE-C), required within one year of employment.
