Gundersen Health System is looking for a data driven individual with prior/current EMS experience as a paramedic to join our dynamic and growing team for a newly created position of Quality Improvement Analyst-EMS. This role is essential in promoting high-quality, evidence-based care within our EMS services, helping create and deploy QA processes for our EMS system and ensuring that staff are well-trained and continuously improving their practices to meet the needs of the communities we serve.

What You'll Do:

The Quality Improvement Analyst for Emergency Medical Services (EMS) is a pivotal role focused on enhancing the quality of care provided by EMS personnel through education and continuous improvement initiatives. This position combines expertise in quality improvement methodologies with a strong emphasis on training and development, ensuring that EMS staff are equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to deliver exceptional patient care. The analyst uses performance improvement practices and a quality improvement approach to develop metrics; measures the extent of improvement achieved; converts data into useable information; facilitates group and teamwork; and assures that improvement activities are documented and reported. Major responsibilities include:

  • Design, implement, and evaluate quality improvement programs aimed at optimizing EMS operations and patient outcomes

  • Conduct comprehensive clinical assessments of current practices and identify areas for improvement within the EMS system

  • Assist in developing and delivering educational programs, workshops, and training sessions for EMS personnel on quality improvement principles, best practices, and clinical protocols

  • Analyze performance data and patient care metrics to inform quality improvement initiatives and educational content

  • Develop metrics and measures the extent of improvement achieved; converts data into useable information

What's Available:

  • Fulltime, 80 hours biweekly (1.0 FTE)

  • Monday-Friday 8a-5p, with infrequent evening education hours

  • Based on site in La Crosse, WI with potential for hybrid flexibility after 3 month review

  • Pay range of $30-$46/hr based upon experience

What You'll Need:

  • Minimum of an Associate degree in EMS or a related field

  • 5 - 7 years of relevant experience to include a combination of paramedic field experience and EMS education experience, or healthcare quality improvement work including data analytics software i.e. Excel, Power BI, Microsoft Office products

  • National Registry Emergency Medical Technician - Paramedic (NREMT-P) or Emergency Medical Technician - Paramedic - Wisconsin (EMT-P)

  • Familiarity with EMS Charts, Office 360 software, and Power BI

  • Attention to detail, problem solving skills, critical thinking skills, and strong communication skills
