Day Custodial Supervisor

JOB SUMMARY:

The Day Custodial Supervisor at Ft. Meade supervises workers engaged in cleaning and maintaining GIC contract facilities, conducts on-the-spot facilities inspections and performs administrative duties as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Provides supervision to employee and trainees working various custodial tasks including floor care, bathroom maintenance and general office cleaning

* Schedules work and provides assignments to employees/trainees to ensure proper and timely completion of all custodial duties; Maintains and posts a weekly, monthly, and semi-annual schedule

* Reviews and monitors employee/trainee time and attendance Maintains employee/trainee daily attendance log

* Assist with onboarding of new Employees within established timeframe

* Completes all necessary paperwork including daily record keeping in a timely manner.

* Hands-on work such as buffing, waxing, carpet shampooing and other custodial tasks as required in the event of staff shortages.

* Performs on-the-spot quality inspections reporting deficiencies and making recommendations for corrective action; Follows up with proper staff to ensure deficiency is corrected in a timely manner

* Commit to improvement and team building; Assists employees in developing strong leadership skills

* Reviews and properly documents incidents and accidents; Reviews reports for trending submitting findings and recommendations to management; Holds safety meetings with employees/trainees

* Assist with the Development and supervision of transportation schedules and provides transportation to and from work site so that workforce can meet cleaning schedules

* Assists with maintenance and repairs of company vehicles as needed

* Coordinate with other supervisors to assist with staffing coverage as needed.

* Hold monthly staff and safety meetings with employees/trainees and properly document meetings.

* Compiles data and information for reports as needed/requested

* Collaborate with the employment counselor on matters pertaining to Trainees and to assist with providing supportive employment.

* Maintain a professional and courteous attitude at all times, be flexible, and assume new job responsibilities as needed

* Completes laundry services keeping rags and mops clean

* Completes other duties as assigned by management

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Two years custodial supervisory experience with some prior quality management experience required; Prior experience in administrative or support role preferred

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • Valid and unrestricted Maryland state drivers license

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Sedentary

Lifting up to 10 pounds maximum and occasionally lifting and/or carrying such articles as dockets, ledgers and files. Walking and standing are occasionally required. Frequently required to use hands and fingers to hold, handle and feel objects, knobs, keys and/or buttons

Light

Lifting up to 20 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying objects weighing up to 10 pounds. May be required to regularly stand for extended periods of time, walk, reach with hands/arms with full range of motion, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, push or pull. Regularly required to talk and hear. Frequently required to use hands and fingers to hold, handle and feel objects, knobs, keys and/or buttons.

Medium

Lifting up to 50 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds. May be required to regularly stand for extended periods of time, walk, reach with hands/arms with full range of motion, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, push or pull. Regularly required to talk and hear. Frequently required to use hands and fingers to hold, handle and feel objects, knobs, keys and/or buttons. Requires localized travel throughout a military base to various buildings. Requires ability to get in and out of vehicle quickly

Heavy

Lifting up to 100 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying objects weighing up to 50 pounds. May be required to regularly stand for extended periods of time, walk, reach with hands/arms with full range of motion, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, push or pull. Regularly required to talk and hear. Frequently required to use hands and fingers to hold, handle and feel objects, knobs, keys and/or buttons.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Limited

General office environment where the employee is infrequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, wet and/or humid conditions, fumes, airborne particles or outside weather conditions. The noise level is usually quite.

Moderate

Employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles and outside weather conditions. The noise level is usually moderate. Spends 50% in an office setting and 50% observing employees on-the-job

High

Employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. Employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles and outside weather conditions. Employee is occasionally exposed to high precarious places, risk of electrical shock and/or vibration. The noise level is usually loud.
