What you'll be doing...
The Distinguished Architect (DA) fulfills the role of trusted adviser for Verizon Business Group (VBG) on key clients' deals. The DA will also work with the leadership team to help drive strategic initiatives across the Connected Solutions vertical teams. The DA works with key business stakeholders and subject matter experts to build a holistic view of the client strategy, processes and information technology assets. The role of the DA is to leverage this knowledge to ensure that the client's ongoing business requirements and the Verizon Solutions are in alignment throughout the lifecycle of the contract. The Distinguished Architect provides support on large, complex customer engagements, putting together solutions across multiple towers (M2M, IoT, 4G/5G, MEC, App Enablement, Cloud, Security, Professional Services, UC&C, etc.), supporting literature, diagrams, write-up, responses, etc. Importantly, the DA must continually develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of the industry and Verizon systems, processes, product offerings and services to enable effective, impactful client communications. The Distinguished Architect will support the sales teams in strategic account planning developing a pipeline of opportunities for development by Account Management and Solution Architecture and supporting the Account Team in communicating the strategic vision and value propositions to senior customer stakeholders. You'll need to have:
Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience Eight or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through one or a combination of work and/or military experience, or specialized training. Six or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through one or a combination of work and/or military experience, or specialized training.
Even better if you have one or more of the following:
- A Master's degree.
- Eight or more years of experience in the IT infrastructure industry.
- Ability to clearly explain/whiteboard complex technical concepts to varied audiences (CTO to Manager) is key.
- Confident and capability in communicating at C-level across both IT and business leaders.
- Experience in development of customer facing business cases.
- Worked in a similar role previously; Solution Director, Lead Architect etc.
- Experience in solution design and / or product development.
- Commercial acumen, ability to develop business plans at a conceptual level.
- Ability to navigate both internal and customer business processes (governance, financial approvals, change-control, etc.)
- Experience in service management and/or supplier management.
- Ability to understand and develop SLA's, KPI's within complex commercial contracts.
- Seven or more years' experience in designing and implementing complex solutions for Fortune 500 companies.
- Advanced design and sales skills in at least three of the following: Data and IP Services (MPLS, VoIP, VPN, IP PBX), Managed Network Services (LAN, WAN, CDN, Managed IP PBX), Managed Security Solutions, Data Center Outsourcing (application hosting, managed storage), Call Center Technologies (ACD, IVR, Customer Portal), Wireless Network (WWAN) 4G, 5G, RAN/CORE, Next-Gen Architecture, IoT/M2M and Mobility Solutions, Private LTE/LPWAN.
- Experience or knowledge of advanced technologies related with for instance Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), Augmented Reality / Virtual Reality, DevOps, etc.
- Ability to run multiple projects or deals under tight timelines.
