Job Overview

The Manager Clinical Research is responsible for managing day-to-day operations of a functional team accountable for supporting clinical research programs and/or studies conducted by Principal Investigators (PIs) at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus. Achieves functional objectives while developing individuals and teams and ensuring team effectiveness, including but not limited to, with process maintenance and definition of team norms. This position will have at least two (2) direct reports and 15-20 indirect reports.

We are looking for a dynamic individual to join the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders (CCBD) Clinical Research team at Children's Hospital Colorado. At the CCBDB, discoveries from our laboratories are changing the way care is delivered in the fields of pediatric hematology, oncology and bone marrow transplantation. Our researchers are at the forefront of both basic and clinical science, driving innovations that directly impact patient treatments.

As the Manager for this esteemed program, you will lead our Children's Oncology Group (COG), Neuro-Oncology and Regulatory teams.

The COG is a research program within the CCBD (Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders). The COG is a cooperative group made up of more than 220 institutions, specializing in pediatric clinical research inclusive of children, adolescents and young adults with cancer. COG trials include front-line treatment for many types of childhood cancers, studies aimed at determining the underlying biology of these diseases, and trials involving new and emerging treatments, supportive care, and survivorship.

Our Neuro-Oncology program is one of the largest programs in the nation. We treat patients from birth into young adulthood. In addition to caring for children who have tumors with proven treatment protocols, our pediatric neuro-oncologists are leaders in using research to help identify potential new neuro-oncology therapies

This position plays a crucial role in overseeing the operational and administrative facets of these trials. Your leadership will be instrumental in advancing research and improving outcomes for our young patients. Let's make a difference together!

Additional Information

Department Name: CCHRI-CCBD Clinical
Hours per week: 40, eligible for benefits
Shift: Monday - Friday, 8am to 4:30pm. Work hours may vary due to department needs, this may also include the occasional weekend and/or working outside of standard business hours. This position will have the possibility of being hybrid upon successful completion of department on-boarding/training.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in a related field is required.
  • Experience: Minimum of six (6) years of clinical research related experience is required.
  • Equivalency: Minimum of nine (9) years of clinical research related experience may be considered in lieu of minimum education and experience requirements.
  • Certification(s): Certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS) for the Healthcare Provider by the American Heart Association is required at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least two years of direct people leadership in a formal capacity.
  • Previous experience in COG, pediatrics, and clinical trials
  • Direct regulatory experience and oversight

  • Accountable for the development, implementation, maintenance and adherence of departmental strategies, policies, procedures and best practices. Monitors overall compliance with all applicable regulatory bodies.
  • Develops, coordinates, and/or delivers technical orientation and ongoing training, in addition to managing the credentialing of all team members.
  • Collaborates with stakeholders and decision makers to foster collaboration in research operations, planning, budgeting, strategy, and communications across the enterprise. Conceptualizes, articulates, and gains support for a variety of initiatives and programs.
  • Accountable for business development and growth involving research at both a local and national level.

Guidelines: Guidelines are in the form of stated goals and objectives in functional area.

Complexity: Work assignment is unstructured and leader is responsible for implementing and managing a variety of objectives, resources and initiatives to achieve the goals of the function. Salary Information

Annual Salary Range (Based on 40 hours worked per week): $97,718.13 to $146,577.19
Hourly Salary Range: $46.98 to $70.47
