JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Penn State is currently seeking a frontline fundraiser in the role of Assistant Director of College Development for the College of Information Sciences and Technology (IST). As a member of the Division of Development and Alumni Relations, you can play an integral role in Penn State's future and contribute to one of the most successful fundraising and alumni relations operations in the country.

Reporting to the Director of Development at Information Sciences and Technology and working closely and collaboratively with the Dean of College of Information Sciences and Technology, as well as other development and alumni relations colleagues, academic partners, and research administration staff, this Assistant Director will:

  • Identify and cultivate a prospect pool of graduates and other key constituencies;
  • Articulate Penn State's needs, ambitions, and values, including diversity, equity, and inclusion, through excellent informal and formal communications, including written proposals;
  • Interpret research information pertinent to relationship building with potential donors;
  • Work collaboratively with college leadership, staff, volunteers, and donors to create and implement strategies to secure philanthropic gifts ($10,000+ level);
  • Travel extensively throughout the region and across the country to pursue these strategies and build enduring relationships, tracked to a fixed and appropriately aggressive set of fundraising metrics;
  • Serve as an ambassador for the college and its priorities and values.

This position typically requires a bachelor's degree or higher plus one year of related experience. The successful candidate will also have:

  • A track record of success in meeting fundraising goals by personally soliciting gifts;
  • A dedication to and understanding of the skills required to build relationships with diverse communities;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of diversity, equity, and inclusion in higher education;
  • Exemplary interpersonal and communication skills;
  • A proven ability to self-motivate and work both independently and as part of a team;
  • A commitment to professional development, learning, and being mentored.

Operation of a motor vehicle as part of the position's duties and a valid driver's license are required. Successful completion of a motor vehicle records check, in addition to standard background checks, is also required.

Enrolling its first students in 1999, the College of Information Sciences and Technology currently welcomes more than 2,100 resident students statewide and nearly 1,500 students taking IST courses online through Penn State World Campus. This position is based at the University Park campus, located in State College, Pennsylvania. The salary range for this position, including all possible grades is:

$56,200.00 - $81,500.00
