Position Summary
The primary location of this position is on the main Cullowhee, NC campus.

The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a working supervisor for the painting section of the Carpentry shop, overseeing the maintenance and repair of finishes on exterior surfaces, interior walls, ceilings, and floor surfaces within university buildings, facilities, and equipment. This role encompasses all normal supervisory and administrative duties associated with a supervisor's position, including the coordination and assignment of tasks to ensure efficient workflow.

The supervisor will be responsible for instructing subordinate personnel in both painting and carpentry work, establishing training programs for new personnel, and ensuring that all work adheres to safety standards and quality expectations. Ultimately, this position plays a crucial role in maintaining the aesthetic and functional integrity of the university's facilities.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required for this Position
Knowledge of standard procedures and practices associated with construction and building renovation, including painting, carpentry, masonry, roofing materials, and cabinet making trades. Skilled in the use of hand tools, with the ability to read and work from blueprints and working drawings or sketches. Ability to make estimates of time and materials. Ability to plan, organize, and direct the work of painters and carpenters. Ability to instruct subordinate personnel in paint and carpentry work to establish a program of training for new personal.

High school diploma or equivalency and two years of experience in trade(s) areas assigned; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
