The Sr Tax Leader - Compliance & Operations - Compliance and Special Projects provides direction and leadership so the Company's U.S. federal and state/local income and franchise taxes comply with U.S. federal and state/local tax regulations. This role also plays a key role in leading and supporting discrete and routine projects related to the company's U.S. federal and state/local income and franchise tax return preparation, interim and year-end financial reporting related to tax, tax forecasting, and tax technology. Developing and Executing Tax Strategies This role is responsible for leading U.S. federal and state/local tax compliance, supporting U.S federal and state/local tax provision processes and procedures as well as related tax projects. Specifically:
- Lead a team of professionals to develop and administer the U.S. federal tax return processes, including international components, to ensure the returns, estimates and extension are accurate and completed in a timely manner
- Lead and direct the processes for the filing of US Federal and State/Local Income and Franchise taxes ensuring all tax return positions are documented and defendable to federal and local governmental authorities
- Support the company's interim and annual financial reporting for tax, including the U.S. federal, U.S. tax on international operations, and state tax provision processes that adheres to US GAAP accounting standards under ASC 740
- Assist with the quarterly SOX compliance requirements related to income tax controls including the timely preparation and review of key schedules, assuring proper documentation, and completing control certifications
- Manage assigned special projects in support of the Company's income tax return compliance and provision processes
- Support the implementation of effective strategies to incorporate tax compliance obligations associated with merger and acquisition activities
- Assist with defense of federal, state income and franchise tax audits
- Lead and support the implementation of process improvement initiatives
Leading the Tax Function
- Understand the strategic direction of the company's businesses and execute functional strategies to support and enhance business results
- Establish relationships with key stakeholders; ensure effective contact to remain aligned with functional objectives
- Inspires teamwork across staff functions and other business groups to maximize the performance of the tax function
- The position manages the tax team with a focus toward developing experienced tax and tax accounting professionals in the domestic and international areas
- Communicates effectively with global finance and tax leaders to increase the teamwork across the finance function; encourage team members to communicate new ideas or processes to enhance all aspects of the tax function

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION
- Ten years of tax experience working in a multinational corporation, or equivalent experience in a Big 4 accounting firm
- Bachelor's degree is required with a CPA certification, master's degree in taxation or JD, preferred
- 5 years of leadership experience
EXPERIENCE
- Tax return preparation software (Corptax), tax provision software (Onesource), tax research software and/or general ledger software (SAP) all strongly preferred
- Combined experience in a multi-national tax department and public accounting preferred
