Why us, why now?

The Medical Education Initiatives Specialist 1 provides administrative support for a wide variety of programs and projects administered by the Medical Education Initiatives portfolio. This role supports matrixed teams including the Medical Education Research Certificate (MERC) program, the LSL scholarly calls for submission, and the AAMC Virtual Specialty Fair with note taking, information management, website administration, and other administrative tasks. The Specialist serves as a community manager for multiple virtual communities.

How you will make an impact

Manage the MERC program
  • Manage end-to-end administration of MERC including the scheduling and delivery of workshops, managing the inbox, and all associated tasks including facilitator and site management.
Implement and manage new virtual community audiences
  • Work with portfolio colleagues to devise and support a sustainable plan for continued virtual connection for virtual communities of scholars, advisors, and financial aid leaders.
Support administration of the annual virtual specialty fair
  • Work with portfolio colleagues to support the annual virtual specialty fair including managing specialty communication and inbox, platform design, and day-of-event administration.
Support existing work and create new tools and resources
  • Work with portfolio colleagues to support the organization and management of mission-aligned work products including resource collections (such as the Equity in Learning Collection), white papers such as Department of Medical Education/Office of Medical Education project, and other scholarly offerings such as the scholarly-disengaged AAMC member institutions project.
  • Duties include but are not limited to managing meetings and calendar invites, taking notes, managing files, and identifying the appropriate AAMC procedures for external dissemination.
What you'll bring to the role
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 0 - 2 years of related work experience.
  • Experience with medical education terminology.
  • Able to work independently and in collaboration with diverse teams (either as the lead or as a team member), requiring excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in writing or drafting correspondence, templates, publications, and web content.
  • Experience managing complex projects with minimal supervision.
  • Experience maintaining and administering national professional development programs in virtual, hybrid, and in-person environments.
  • Able to prioritize and balance several projects with short lead times.
  • Excellent proofreading and editing skills.
  • Knowledge of streaming audio and video, file types and formats, and experience with web conferencing solutions.

Remote Work Eligibility

This position is eligible for remote work in the contiguous US

Compensation Grade Range

$54,825.00-$64,500.00/ Grade Mid-Point:

Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors may include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate's work experience, education and training, as well as internal equity, market, and business considerations.

If a bachelor's degree is required, related work experience may be substituted in some positions. One year of college course work at an accredited institution is equivalent to one year of related work experience.
