Job Title: Supplier Quality Engineer

The position is located at 9700 West 74th Street, Eden Prairie, MN 55328

Job Duties:

SUMMARY: Reporting to the Supply Chain Director, the Supplier Quality Engineer serves as a technical liaison between the supplier base and the internal cross-function team to ensure PTI's quality, delivery, and cost requirements are met.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:



  • Support Purchasing in supplier selection by assessing and qualifying new suppliers.
  • Responsible for assessing and leading the implementation effort of supplier cost reduction initiatives.
  • Monitor supplier performance trends for continuous improvement activities to reduce supplier related cost of poor quality.
  • Continuously improve suppliers' quality systems and implement programs to support suppliers' goal of reaching "self certification" thus reducing/eliminating incoming inspection.
  • Support product launches utilizing the Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) process with emphasis on managing supplier activities and timing, in addition to maintaining the required documentation.
  • Support engineering in development of material specifications and identification of critical/significant characteristics as related to supplier product.
  • Provide supplier training and assistance in the development of Production Control Plans, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), and other APQP and PTI supplier quality system requirements.
  • Initiate, review, and approve supplier Production Part Approval (PPAP) submissions.
  • Manage Supplier Deviation Requests and Supplier Request for Engineering Approval activities.
  • Perform supplier quality and process audits to ensure compliance to specified requirements.
  • Provide recommendations for incoming inspection requirements and defective material disposition as needed.
  • Manage and maintain Supplier Corrective Action (SCAR) process by working with suppliers to resolve defective material issues, root cause analysis, and corrective/preventive actions.
  • Develop, maintain, and issue Supplier Performance Scorecards
  • Responsible for updating and tracking hard tooling assets at the supplier's location.
  • Manage and maintain Approved Supplier List, suppliers Quality Certification status, and special process assessments.
  • Manage and maintain Supplier Quality Manual


Requirements:

At least a Bachelor's degree in industrial or mechanical engineering, plus at least 3 years of experience as a quality engineer, or supplier quality engineer in a manufacturing environment

*Specific skills and other requirements:

In addition must possess 3 years of experience in the following:



  • Quality auditing experience;
  • IATF experience;
  • Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) experience;
  • Working with automotive or heavy truck OEM's and/or Tier 1 supply base in an IATF environment;
  • Experience certifying suppliers through the PPAP process;
  • Experience creating quality action plans with suppliers.


Requires up to 15-20% travel including international travel

Salary: $105,726 / year

Compensation Disclosure:

At Phillips and Temro Industries, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is listed above. Your base pay will depend on your skills, education, qualifications, experience, and location. Qualifications
Education
Bachelors of Mechanical Engineering (required)
Experience
3 years: Experience as a quality engineer, or supplier quality engineer, in a manufacturing environment. (required)
3 years: Quality auditing experience (required)
3 years: IATF experience (required)
3 years: Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) experience (required)
3 years: Working with automotive or heavy truck OEMs and/or Tier 1 supply base in an IATF environment. (required)
