Work Hours: 7:00 am - 3:30 pm SUMMARY
Responsible for Mechanical manufacturing areas. Supervises and coordinates activities of workers
engaged in cleaning duties, setting up, installing, repairing, and maintaining electrical and electronic
systems, mechanical systems, machinery, and equipment by performing the following duties. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Directly oversees refurbishment of train sets which includes but is not limited to:
Supervising the mechanical management team (Supervisors and Team Leaders) to ensure
that the mechanical team safely achieves the project and production goals
Interprets company policies to the mechanical management team and enforces safety regulations in
accordance with FRA, OSHA, Talgo and AAR standards.
Develops planning for the mechanical team to ensure the department meets daily
production goals.
Initiates or suggest production, safety and moral improvement initiatives.
Provides feedback on budget issues to the General Manager.
Enforces all applicable FRA, OSHA, FDA, Talgo and other agency rules, regulations, laws and
standards.
Recommends measures to improve manufacturing and repair methods, equipment
performance and quality of product to General Manager. Monitors parts and supply usage on mechanical equipment.
Monitors and maintains availability of all tools required for department.
Functions as the technical expert on all mechanical systems of trainset and support equipment.
Supports the Manufacturing engineer in creating training courses related to mechanical
systems and monitors the training provided to ensure it meets the requirements of the
associated reference or Talgo procedure.
Assists the supervisors and leads in the training and development of technicians.
Confers with the mechanical supervisors and team leaders to coordinate activities of Mechanical
Department.
Supervise, supports and schedules manufacturing schedule.
Adjusts work procedures and staffing levels to meet production schedules.
Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.
Interprets engineering drawings, technical papers, and related documentation and implements
them into process.
Utilization of business and work process management software such as SAP and Teamcenter.
Consults with other shop managers to coordinate activities of individual departments
Directly supervises mechanical management team members in the preparation and delivery of
staff performance evaluations and career development activities.
Follows and supports all safety standards and practices required by State, Customer, and Talgo,
Inc.
Identify safety requirements by reviewing regulations, guidelines, and standards to include State,
Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and Environmental Protection Agency
(EPA). SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Directly supervises employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the
organization's policies, procedures, and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and
training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and
disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. REQUIRED SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of tools, equipment, and materials common to the mechanical trade
Maintain certifications required
Must have good oral/written English communication skills (Bi-Lingual Spanish is a plus)
Tooling design experience
Team player
3-5 years' experience in various measurement and data analysis tools (excel, MS project, Gantt
software, etc.)
Good interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to understand/read schematics and mechanical installation drawings
Must have a high working knowledge of computer software to include but not limited to MS
Office Suite (Outlook, Excel and Word) SAP experience minimum 3 years. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- 3-5 years manufacturing management, industrial/mechanical maintenance, diagnosing mechanical systems
- Bachelor degree (B. S.) in manufacturing/operations management, industrial, manufacturing,
- mechanical engineering/systems or related
- 3-5 years' experience in a supervisor/management role
Preferred: Railroad and train experience (3-5 years). Production, operations or maintenance. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions,
and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak
effectively to employees of the organization. Bi-Lingual Spanish is valuable. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to perform advanced mathematical operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and
division) across various units of measure, including whole numbers, fractions, decimals, and
complex numbers. Proficiency in applying mathematical concepts such as linear algebra, differential
and integral calculus, and differential equations to solve engineering problems. Competence in
calculating rates, ratios, percentages, derivatives, and integrals. Ability to utilize mathematical
tools and engineering software for modeling and analyzing complex systems. OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
Prior to starting employment:
- Must be capable of reading blueprints, drawings, schematics and high knowledge in production and project planning tools and methods (office, MS project, gantt, etc.)
- SAP knowledge and experience (minimum 3 years preferred)?
- Must be a team player and have a positive attitude.
- Must have good organizational skills.
- Must be able to meet difficult deadlines.

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. WORK SCHEDULE
Work is generally performed from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm and may include weekends and holidays. Travel
with train may be required in emergencies.
