How You'll Contribute to the Team:

This position is primarily responsible for maintaining, preparing and reviewing designated accounting functions and financial information within the property management accounting department, including reporting, internal control procedures and systematic posting, reconciliation and maintenance of general ledger activity.

Primary Responsibilities Include:



  • Review, approve, and record all AP Invoices and process check runs weekly.
  • Actively foster and maintain communication between accounting and Higher Ed operations to achieve department goals.
  • Track and reconcile cash activity: Record cash receipts/disbursement and perform bank reconciliations and other cash reconciliations as needed.
  • Perform rent roll reconciliation for the Higher Ed portfolio.
  • Prepare and record recurring and non-recurring journal entries.
  • Prepare supporting workpapers in compliance with GAAP.
  • Prepare 3rd party accounts receivables invoices and distribute to partners; assist with collections on open AR.
  • Perform variance analysis on the income statement and balance sheet in Excel and Blackline.
  • Compile and distribute financial packages to external partners.
  • Prepare operating expense funding requests.
  • Support internal & external users of business segment accounting data by providing timely and accurate information and reports.
  • Ensure all financial controls and procedures are followed in accordance with company policies.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Role Specific Requirements Include:



  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.
  • 5+ years of relevant accounting experience. Previous property management accounting a plus.
  • Ability to research and understand flux variances and provide explanations period over period.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP).
  • Demonstrate ability to perform work under minimal supervision and work cross-functionally and build relationships at all levels inside and outside the organization.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate information and ideas with clarity and precision.
  • Detailed-oriented and organized.
  • Ability to take personal responsibility for the quality and timeliness of work and achieve results with little oversight.
  • Demonstrable proactive approach to problem-solving with strong decision-making capability and the ability to handle complex issues and problems; willing to seek assistance/guidance when needed.
  • Proficient in in Microsoft Office suite, EPICOR and other accounting related software systems. Strong working knowledge of accounting software packages to ensure the company is fully utilizing its investment.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with individuals of diverse backgrounds and at all organizational levels, including the ability to influence.
