Are you ready to make your mark? If you're an Engineering Development Technician, we have an exciting opportunity for you. The Engineering Development Technician reports to the Development Lab Leader or Engineering Team Leader function and is responsible for the performance of routine functions which require the application of standard techniques and procedures to solve less complex technical problems. This level also supports product and tool documentation, prototype development and testing of new and existing products, and provides technical support to Development Engineering personnel. This position requires a moderate level of supervision; work may be reviewed by more senior Technicians. What You Will Be Doing
- Assembles new/and or modified electrical components, equipment and tools or subsystems from supplied documentation
- Solves routine problems with little or no assistance
- Supports the Engineering Change Process
- Identifies and corrects typical malfunctions in Test Lab and/or test equipment
- Applies test plans and understands IEC, CE and UL test standards. Executes basic functional and environmental tests; may support EMC Tests
- Sets up and performs testing on new, modified and production product designs under operational conditions per written and verbal instructions from the project/product engineer with moderate assistance or supervision
- Can troubleshoot and rework products to a component level and can help diagnose or determine possible solutions. Participates in installation of equipment in test setups which may include mechanical or electrical controls, cabling, tubing, power source and instrumentation
- Ensures laboratory equipment is maintained and calibrated appropriately and meets specification and functional limits
- Records and analyzes test results (numerical and graphical data); reviews test results for compliance to test objectives and documents test progress
- Instructs others in the safe and proper use of applicable lab and/or manufacturing hardware and tools
- Creates development or manufacturing documentation for standard products with low supervision
- May support manufacturing personnel on product related issues
- Assists in the transition of NPI products to production including production assembly and test process development
What We Are Looking For
- US - Associate's Degree Applied Science degree in Electronics. In lieu of degree, equivalent military experience required.
- With 2-year degree, 2 years previous electronics technician experience required. With equivalent military experience, minimum of 3 years experience with general electrical aptitude with soldering ability required.
- Ability to effectively work in a team environment and maintain good customer focus. Good understanding of organizational structure and flow of information in the company. Recognizes problems which are beyond capabilities and seeks help from senior technicians. Ability to lead small teams with assistance.
- Ability to read electrical drawings and electrical packaging diagram.
- Ability to read and use a wide range of precision mechanical, electrical, or software measurement devices.
- Ability/desire to learn new instrumentation and data acquisition systems.
- Competent understanding of component function and testing. Learning assembly and test processes, drawings and geometric tolerances as well as shop standards and procedure.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills including presentations (internal only). Basic technical writing skills. Ability to interact effectively with customers during witness testing, customer visits and in similar situations.
- Basic PC skills with some functional experience using spreadsheets. LabVIEW, Visio, experience preferred.
- Ability to set up and troubleshoot basic instrumentation.
- Competent electronics knowledge. Ability to read electrical diagrams and schematics.
