Peoria's Public Works Department has an excellent opportunity for a Street Maintenance Supervisor in their Traffic Signals and Streetlight team. The Street Maintenance Supervisor position plans, budgets, organizes, and supervises the traffic signals and street lighting operations. The work includes select, supervise, train, and evaluate the activities of staff; coordinate contractor activities, including bid, contract, and project management; analyze complex street division related problems and implement effective courses of action; create and implement effective emergency management; direct routine and emergency related activities; ensure conformity to safety protocol.

The ideal candidate for this position will have:



  • A great attitude and strong work ethic
  • Strong desire to lead a high-performing team
  • 5 years' experience in traffic signal construction, maintenance and repair
  • Previous experience repairing municipal streetlights
  • The ability to select, supervise, train and evaluate employees
  • Previous municipal or government experience
  • A strong commitment to public service
  • Previous supervisory experience
  • The ability to read and interpret constructions drawings

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education:



  • Two-year associate's degree or equivalent.


Experience:



  • Minimum of five years related experience.


OR



  • Any equivalent combination of education, experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work


Physical Demands:



  • Work requires moderate physical exertion.


Licenses and Certifications:



  • Valid AZ Driver's License upon hire.


Preferred/Desirable Qualifications for Traffic Signals and Street Lights:



  • Experience in a municipal or government setting.
  • Previous supervisory experience is preferred.
  • American Traffic Safety Services Association (ATSSA) Traffic Control TechnicianCertification or International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA) Work ZoneTemporary Traffic Control Technician Certification.
  • International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA) Traffic Signal Construction Technician Level II Certification.
  • International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA) Traffic Signal Senior BenchTechnician Level III Certification.
  • International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA) Traffic Signal Senior FieldTechnician Level III Certification.
