Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in the Discipline of Sustainability Management

The School of Professional Studies (SPS) at Columbia University invites applications for a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Discipline to serve as a core faculty member in SPS's MS Program in Sustainability Management. This is a full-time appointment with multi-year renewal contingent on successful regular review. The position will begin on July 1, 2025. We are seeking a high-quality candidate with a graduate degree in sustainability management, sustainable development, economics, education, political science, business, finance, law, environmental sciences or other disciplines directly related to sustainability management. This can include political science, education, management, sociology, economics, engineering, ecology or environmental science. Experience mentoring students on consulting projects, where students solve real-world sustainability-related problems with public and private sector clients, is a plus. The ability to form partnerships and collaborations with public, private, and nonprofit organizations to develop applied research and foster entrepreneurial ideas is also welcome. International experience is preferred. Experience teaching masters students in professional degree programs is also preferred. This position will involve regular teaching in the program's highly flexible curriculum. The successful candidate will teach three courses each semester related to Sustainability Management in one or more of the following areas: integrative sustainability management, economics and quantitative analysis, physical dimensions of sustainability, public policy and sustainability, physical dimensions of sustainability, and general and financial management. They will also participate in instructional design, student mentoring, career development and overall development of the Sustainability Management program. Finally, the successful candidate will teach their allotted courses in both the School of Professional Studies and the School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA). All applicants must have a BA/BS. Applicants with a doctoral or terminal degree in sustainability management or other related disciplines (listed above) are strongly preferred.
