Overview

Sierra Lobo, offers customers a full range of professional and technical capabilities, including Test and Evaluation, Systems Engineering, and Advanced Technologies. We also develop products and processes related to Cryogenic Fluid and Thermal Management Systems, Densified Propellant Management Systems, and Prototype Extreme Pressure and Temperature Systems. Our customers include the Department of Defense (DoD), the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Navy, U.S. Army, Missile Defense Agency (MDA), and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).

This position will be located at NASA's Langley Research Center.

Responsibilities

Serves as the principal contact for all NASA Langley Unitary Plan Wind Tunnel related matters that include, but are not limited to, maintenance, procedures, inspections, and annual training concerning the facility infrastructure as well as electrical and mechanical machinery installed into the facility. Coordinates all required work with all interested parties (occupants, users, other departments, and subcontractors) to avoid unacceptable disruptions in the Government's business. Daily walk-throughs and various inspections are performed to ensure the facility and its equipment are functioning properly for its intended use. Maintain library of and draft new alarm response procedures for facility equipment as needed.

Use working knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems to provide an initial assessment of issues in the facility. Must be able read and interpret blueprints and working drawings and serve as an approval source for changes made to these drawings. Discrepancies and equipment failures are coordinated with responsible parties for repair or adjustment. Maintains the electrical Lockout/Tagout procedures, log, and tags for the facility as well as other facility documentation known as a Facility Resume, Operating Procedures, checklists, etc.

Interface frequently with building occupants and customer organizational management. Must be customer friendly, and able to operate under deadlines. Work closely on a day-to-day basis with building occupants to provide a familiar face and instill confidence that their issues are being addressed in a timely and efficient way. Provide status reports on issues and resolution activity to management and customer personnel.

Successful candidates will demonstrate leadership ability and good communication skills.



Qualifications

Qualifications:

    Three to five years of experience overseeing manufacturing, warehouse operations, or other industrial facilities preferred
  • Knowledge of MAXIMO or other Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), research ability using the Internet, manufacturer and other sources are desired
  • Must have demonstrated ability to supervise and lead teams in producing timely, quality results.

Work Environment

  • Office Environment (65%)
  • Test/Industrial Operations (25%) - May be exposed to high noise levels, safety hazards, hazardous materials, and chemicals. Appropriate PPE and training will be provided for all conditions.
  • Travel between facilities and test operations may bring exposure to loud noise and potentially hazardous equipment operation (10%)

Physical Requirements

  • Must have sufficient mobility to enter all areas of test facilities; crawl, climb ladders, enter confined spaces, ability to work at elevated levels on platforms and scaffolding, etc. (20%)

Equipment and Machines

  • Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, fax, etc.) with knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Matlab, etc. (50%)
  • Safety and personal protective equipment (20%)

Attendance

Regular attendance mandatory (100%)

  • Overtime/work outside normal schedule required (<20%)
  • Travel required (<5%)

Other Essential Functions

  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • A valid driver's license is required.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
  • Must be able to work in a team atmosphere.
  • Must put forward a professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation.
  • Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety/risk hazard to the employee or others.
