Position Title: Governmental Affairs Program Manager

This position plays a crucial role in the coordination and development of the City of Peoria's legislative program and regional activities. This is accomplished by representing the City with a variety of external governmental agencies, stakeholders, and elected officials monitoring legislative and policy developments at the local, regional, and state levels and conducting analysis of proposed policies and legislation to assess impacts on the organization. This position will make recommendations, disseminate information, organize, and facilitate meetings and events to promote collaboration with key stakeholders and perform related duties, as assigned.

The ideal candidate for this position will have:



  • Experience in a municipal or government setting.
  • Proven experience in government relations, public affairs, or a related field.
  • Previous legislative experience.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and build relationships across diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and engage in multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong understanding of political processes, legislative affairs, and public policy.

Education: Bachelor's degree with preference to degree in Communication, Political Science, or Public Policy. Master's degree in Public Administration or related field preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for the education requirement.

Experience: Minimum of three years related professional experience of increasing responsibility in government or public affairs.

Licenses/Certifications/Special Requirements: Valid AZ Driver's License upon hire.
