Under general supervision, serve as the financial analyst, personnel coordinator to the Finance Manager, CAO and Department Chair for Computer Science. Conduct financial analysis, effort reporting and participate in the financial planning for a wide variety of funding sources. Submit finance transactions, gather, manage and analyze financial data from a variety of revenue streams, including state general funds, state and federal grants, private grants, gifts, and other funding sources. Monitor and maintain departmental level GL and project funds associated with the annual operating budget and assist in long-range financial planning. Serves as Department compliance expert for university policy and procedure related to all department financial business processes including purchasing. Will serve as a resource and trainer for business office staff on financial procedures and policy. Under the direction of the project managers will serve as back-up with pre- and post- award processes, budget preparation, analysis, and forecasting when needed. Manage personnel hiring for graduate student and undergrad appointments. This position works with the CAO and Finance Manager reporting directly on projects, providing advice and works closely with the Dean's Office, Office of Research Business Contracts, Accounting and Financial Services, sponsoring agencies, and other external parties (subcontractors, consultants, etc.) to facilitate the timely submission of proposals to expedite the transfer of awards. Serves on campus and college wide committees associated with financial management matters.

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position
- Bachelors degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
- Intermediate level experience working with excel spreadsheets including use of formulas, managing data, using filters and creating pivot tables, including troubleshooting skills in the areas of financial calculations and systems issues and the ability to analyze financial data drawing meaningful conclusions.
- Experience processing either payroll, human resources, purchasing and/or finance transactions.
- Ability to effectively and professionally communicate verbally and in writing to establish and maintain good rapport with staff, faculty, co-workers, and vendors providing excellent customer service with responsiveness and support.
- Problem-solving skills and ability to develop and implement proactive procedures to prevent future challenges.
- Working knowledge and experience in budget preparation, analysis, and forecasting with the ability to control complex budgets and recognize potential problems.
- Must have strong organizational skills with changing priorities and demanding workload and to use independent judgment to make logical decisions.
- Ability to learn UCD and department accounting, human resource and purchasing systems, policies and follow guidelines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience using UC Davis campus systems or equivalent (KFS, FIS Decision Support, AggieEnterprise, AggieExpense, AggieService, UCPath).
- Experience administering multiple fund sources with restrictions
- Familiarity with standard concepts, practices and procedures within UC and G.A.A.P (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
- Analytical skills to coordinate complex projects collaborating with key stakeholders.
- Knowledge of University contract, agreement, and MOU policies and procedures.

Department Overview
The Department of Computer Science is a large complex research unit, one of eight academic departments in the College of Engineering, and provides instruction and research within specialty areas of engineering. The Department has 43 faculty, 9 emeriti, 3 adjunct professors, 3 technical IT Support staff, and 14 administrative staff. The Graduate Group of Computer Science administers three graduate programs: B.S.-to-M.S, M.S. and Ph.D. with approximately 500+ graduate students and supports nearly 100 graduate group faculty. Faculty in the Graduate Group of Computer Science have primary appointments in multiple disciplines including Engineering, School of Medicine, Graduate School of Management, Molecular and Cellular Biology, Physics, Math, Sociology, to name a few.. The Undergraduate program has over 1300 students within 2 programs (CS and CSE). The Graduate Group receives funding in excess of $4M, the Department Operational budget is in excess of $3M, and the faculty expenditures averages ~$6M. Computer Science has a large undergraduate student service component. CS teaches over 13,000 students per year (over 54,000 SCH) with students from various programs across campus.
