JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Office of Entrepreneurship and Commercialization (OEC), in partnership with Penn State Intercollegiate Athletics (ICA) is seeking an experienced, collaborative and detail-oriented Program Coordinator to support the Brand Academy, designed to support student-athletes and others to more successfully develop, manage, and monetize their personal brand through name, image, likeness (NIL) and support their entrepreneurial interests.

At its core, the Brand Academy's role is to help student-athletes view themselves as entrepreneurs and to develop an entrepreneurial mindset, which can serve them well in their careers long after they have left college and athletic competition. With new opportunities related to NIL, the academy will play a critical role in helping educate student-athletes on evaluating and navigating NIL opportunities and building entrepreneurial skills.

This role is a fully in-person role and based at the Morgan Academic Center on the University Park Campus.

Reporting to the Director of the Brand Academy, this individual is responsible for, but not limited to, developing and delivering programming in alignment with the Academy's strategic plan for support of student-athletes personal brand and entrepreneurial success.

Key responsibilities: Specific responsibilities include the following:

  • Provide support to student-athletes regarding the fulfillment of contractual obligations, NIL opportunities, and brand building with businesses and other stakeholders.
  • Execute key tasks in support of overall goals, develop actionable plans, executing priorities, and programming with limited supervision.
  • Working with the Director to identify and develop customized educational programs, experiential learning opportunities, and events in support of student athletes interested in exploring NIL and other entrepreneurial opportunities.
  • Educating student athletes on best practices and tools for personal and business brand development, social media, marketing strategy development and execution, and financial competency.
  • Identifying tools and mentors to support student entrepreneurs as they pursue a variety of entrepreneurial endeavors including NIL opportunities and developing physical and/or digital products.
  • Creating hands-on experiences designed to support student athletes in advancing their ideas toward viable businesses, including new venture formation, idea validation, customer discovery, influencer marketing, and lean startup methodology.
  • Coaching student athletes on "next steps" and connecting them to additional resources that can help de-risk and advance their NIL opportunities.
  • Working with the Happy Valley LaunchBox powered by PNC Bank to identify programs and support for student athletes interested in exploring, starting, and growing product or services-based entrepreneurial opportunities.
  • Assist with delivering workshops and programming on content creation, branding, and social media marketing in conjunction with Happy Valley LaunchBox staff.
  • Supporting cross-organization collaborations designed to expand the resources available to student-athletes and entrepreneurs.
  • Working with the Director to ensure that all programs, events, and partnerships comply with Pennsylvania NIL law and NCAA, Big Ten Conference, and PSU Athletics NIL rules, policies, and procedures.
  • Provide administrative support to the Brand Academy.
  • Collect and maintain accurate data for the academy.
  • Perform all other duties assigned by the Director.

Education and Experience: The minimum qualifications are a Bachelor's degree or higher and 6+ years of experience developing educational programming, or relatable experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Other qualifications include the following:

  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of Name, Image and Likeness (NIL)
  • Experience working with student-athletes
  • Experience and expertise in supporting students-athlete with entrepreneurial mindset
  • Demonstrated understanding of personal brand building development, customer discovery, lean startup methodology, public relations, and negotiation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to cultivate, build, and maintain strong working relationships with individuals from diverse backgrounds and perspectives
  • Strong leadership and project management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades is:

$61,800.00 - $89,600.00
