Summary:

The Emergency Mass Notification System (EMNS) Engineer is an on-site position located at Joint Base Langley - Eustis AFB, VA. EMNS is an enterprise-wide system hosted in a cloud environment to send notices to the Air Force populace through desktop, mobile application, telephone, text messaging alerts, and Giant Voice systems. This system provides individuals with near-real time notifications sent directly from command posts. The system has the capability of delivering reliable and secure emergency threat notifications to all personnel at all Air Force locations. EMNS is designated as a National Security System (NSS) and must be maintained as a high integrity, high availability capability vital to operational readiness. The EMNS AtHoc IP Integration Modules (IIMs) boxes are on the AFIN and are administered remotely from Langley AFB and Peterson SFB.

The primary role for this position is to support the EMNS capabilities at Langley AFB. The EMNS engineer will provide on-site and remote engineering and integration services for the architecture and integration of products to include system architecture, solution design, performance audits, system reviews, documentation and data migration, scanning, and remediation. Other duties include performing site audits and technical account management such as managing third parties, providing technical assistance and mentoring as directed, as well as providing cybersecurity recommendations in support of ATO within the RMF system. The EMNS engineer will support and maintain the IIMs, complete ACAS and STIG scans, patching as needed, and management of the associated Active Directory Objects as needed. Additional scope includes remote testing of the application patches within the HNI Integrated Test Facility as required.


Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

  • Core Tasks
    • Apply application patches for the AtHoc IP Integration Modules (IIMs) on the AFIN
    • Apply operating system patches and security policy to the IIMs
    • Apply configuration changes to the IIMs
    • Perform troubleshooting, in conjunction with the base personnel and/or Prime integrator
    • All other tasks requiring remote access to the IIMs
    • Deliver the results of compliance assessments (STIG) against the IIMs on a quarterly basis
    • Potential travel to sites for touch maintenance of the IIM
  • Risk & Compliance Management
    • Ensure compliance with DoD, Air Force, and industry security standards
    • Maintain operational readiness in accordance with procedures and policies
    • Assist in conducting risk assessments and applying mitigation strategies

Qualifications

Necessary Skills and Knowledge:

  • Excellent leader with experience in managing staff of different disciplines to produce results in a timely manner.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Strong technical knowledge of network and systems infrastructure.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a mission-critical environment.
  • Experience managing subcontractors, vendors, and technical personnel.
  • Familiarity with U.S. DoD & U.S. Air Force procedures and the Air Force Information Network (AFIN).

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A degree in a related field and a minimum of seven (7) years of relevant experience or a total of at least ten (10) years of relevant experience
  • Experience supporting DoD Information Network, AFIN or equivalent.
  • Information Assurance (IA) Technician (IAT) Level II Certification
  • A valid and current SECRET (or higher) security clearance.
  • AtHoc IWSAlerts Mass notification system
  • Microsoft Azure Administrator or equivalent
  • Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate, Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate, or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CISSP
