General Scope of Job

The Division Controller is responsible for the overall management, direction, and integrity of the accounting and financial reporting function, including robust balance sheet controls and thorough understanding of the profit and loss statement. The Division Controller leads initiatives to drive and measure process improvements for the operating units (Productivity, efficiency, margin expansion) and within the department (accurate and timely financial statements). The Controller will help to build out and lead the accounting team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities



  • Coordinate and manage month-end close procedures ensuring accurate recording of revenue, manufacturing cost, and expense across all Business Unit facilities and Product Lines
  • Direct and oversee the work of accounting team members ensuring accuracy and timeliness of delivery.
  • Monitor and work with Accounting and Finance team as well as cross functional business partners on Continuous Improvement initiatives to create efficient and effective processes.
  • Build and maintain relationship with Pregis Accounting network to drive adoption of best practices.
  • Develop a robust internal control framework and ensure compliance throughout the Business unit operations.
  • Lead business unit requirements for annual external audit ensuring actions put in place to mitigate and/or remediate audit risk.
  • Actively engage in the professional development of staff providing opportunities for growth.
  • Partner with the Plant Management teams to ensure clear understanding of performance versus targets and prior year across the P&L and Balance Sheet, identifying areas for improvement and assisting in prioritization.
  • Ad-hoc analysis of financial and operating metrics to support business needs.
  • Provide key decision support to manufacturing plant and support safety and operating initiatives.
  • Lead Cash Management forecasting for Business Unit, identifying opportunities to drive cash efficiency.
  • Ensure completion of weekly reviews of production order variances to identify unusual variances, report root causes, and drive remediation where applicable.
  • Support the operating units annual budget process with a complete understanding of opportunities and risks.
  • Other duties as assigned.



Education and/or Experience



  • Bachelor's degree in accounting. CPA/CMA preferred.
  • 7+ years' experience with progressively increasing responsibility in accounting/finance in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of GAAP.
  • Large scale ERP experience required. SAP experience a strong plus.
  • Multi-site experience preferred.
  • Strong MS Excel skills required.
