GENERAL SUMMARY
The Quality Assurance Engineer supports the quality goals and vision of DeZURIK by coordinating corrective actions and continuous improvements to ensure we exceed our customer expectations. The Quality Assurance Engineer is a position required for any facility or business unit, which has significant manufacturing, or assembly or a combination thereof. This position reports to the Manager of Quality Assurance.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)
- Responsible for recording, processing and analyzing data to identify and prioritize improvement opportunities in process and product quality.
- Responsible for establishing and training for quality methods and practices - statistical methods, process control plans, test and inspection procedures, root cause analysis and problem-solving tools.
- Responsible to lead continuous improvement to meet annual quality goals and objectives.
- Review and evaluate nonconforming material as a member of the Material Review Board (MRB). Disposition material, assign and evaluate corrective action. Perform follow up to process changes that effect product quality.
- Support concurrent engineering efforts by participating in design development projects representing quality assurance and the customer.
- Develop and implement QC departmental ISO procedures. Provide necessary implementation and support.
- Coordinate, schedule and assist in customer inspections and third-party inspection agencies to ensure that the orders have maximum throughput.
- Assist quality technician as needed with calibration of all measuring instruments and any tools that require such calibration.
- Support technical service department with field quality complaint analysis, implementing short- and long-term corrective action. Some field service call visits may be required.
- Develop test methods/procedures to support product validation efforts.
- Perform performance validations tests and reports to exceed customer expectations.
- Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree in quality or an engineering discipline.
- 3 to 5 years of previous experience is required in a manufacturing-based business.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Strong project management skills and experience working with cross-functional teams.
- Strong statistical, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Blue print reading with a full understanding of geometric tolerances.
- Ability to use and understand hand metrology instruments and programing of a CMM.
- Strong background with the ISO 9000 system requirements.
- Ability to develop and implement training for quality systems and methods, such as process capability studies, design of experiments, and others.
- Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, Minitab).
- Must understand safety and environmental requirements that are applicable to the position and areas of manufacturing.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Physical demands are typical of an office position including extended periods of sitting, extensive use of a personal computer and telephone.
- Must be able to see and move throughout plant in order to resolve work problems and facilitate processes.
- Use of tools and measuring instruments necessary for measuring quality.
- Occasional handling of material and components that can require the need for use of hoists and lifts.
- May have contact with caustic substances in some areas of plant.
- Travel for the company including both domestic and international travel may be required for project/systems support.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Normal manufacturing and office environment. When working occasionally in some shop areas, personal protection equipment (PPE) will be recommended and/or required (safety shoes, safety glasses w/side shields, hearing protection, face shield, gloves, apron and boots). Stress may result from workload and meeting schedules. Must have the ability to support extended business hours to meet customer business needs.

SALARY AND BENEFITS
DeZURIK offers a competitive base salary in the $73,735 to $92,168 range, based on experience and qualifications, along with annual bonus opportunities tied to performance.
