Symetra has an exciting opportunity to join our team as an Assistant Vice President - Product Management!

About the role

In this role, you will drive the execution of key strategic initiatives that support Symetra's digital experiences ensuring alignment with Symetra's broader product vision and objectives. Working closely with the VP of Product Management, you will oversee delivery teams, optimize processes, and enhance operational effectiveness. You will collaborate with other Product Managers, Engineering, and Operations to manage product and capabilities that support Symetra's digital experience.

What you will do



  • Support the execution of Symetra's product strategy by leading initiatives that align with business priorities for the digital experience.
  • Collaborate closely with the VP of Product Management and other product managers to ensure successful delivery of product enhancements, integrations, and new features.
  • Oversee day-to-day execution within agile teams, ensuring project milestones and deliverables are met.
  • Enhance operational processes to improve product delivery efficiency
  • Work cross-functionally with engineering, design, planning, and business stakeholders to optimize product development cycles.
  • Identify risks and dependencies in product execution and propose solutions to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Engage in iterative product improvements through customer research, hypothesis-driven testing, and data analysis.
  • Support portfolio management by tracking key performance indicators and reporting progress to leadership.
  • Drive collaboration with vendors and external partners to ensure alignment with Symetra's strategic goals.
  • Main point of contact for Vendor communication and feedback.

Compensation

Salary Range: $137,500 - $229,200 plus eligibility for annual bonus program and long-term incentive plan

Who You Are



  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 5+ years of experience as a Product Manager representing business needs, priorities and technical solutions.
  • Experience working in agile delivery teams required.
  • 2 years within the financial services and/or insurance industry preferred.
  • Comprehensive understanding of leading teams through system implementations or continuous improvements.
  • Proficient with relevant delivery methodologies, Agile, Lean Startup, or SAFe.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • Adept prioritization, project, and deadline management skills.
  • Competence in assessing risk.
  • Some travel required.


Travel:

Required Training & Professional Development
All newly hired people leaders with direct reports are required to complete a comprehensive leadership development program within their first year. This program includes both virtual and in-person training. The in-person sessions will take place at Symetra's corporate headquarters in Bellevue, Washington. Symetra covers all travel and accommodation expenses.
