Location: Leavittsburg, OH 44430

Duration: At least 2 months from projected start date (with potential extension to 3 months)

Hours/Week: 40 hours

Minimum Education Level: Master's Degree


Job Summary:

  • We are seeking a Family or Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner licensed to practice in Ohio, with at least one year of NP experience in primary care, to provide full-time on-site services to the male population at the correctional facility.
  • The schedule is weekdays only, with no evenings, weekends, or holidays.
  • Shift start and end times may vary based on the facility's needs. An on-site interview is required.


Role & Responsibilities:

  • Chronic Illness Management: Monitor and intervene in chronic illnesses, following ODRC policies and protocols.
  • Vaccinations and Treatment: Administer vaccinations for communicable diseases and provide treatment for acute and chronic conditions, including minor surgery (as trained and allowed).
  • Physical Exams & Diagnoses: Perform routine physical exams to assess chronic conditions and diagnose new ones.
  • Specialty Referrals: Evaluate patients for the need for specialty referrals and review the consult reports to approve or disapprove recommendations.
  • Diagnostic Testing: Order and review lab, x-ray, and other diagnostic tests.
  • Medical Reclassification: Work with the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) to complete medical reclassification and request non-formulary medications.
  • Routine & Emergency Care: Provide scheduled routine and emergency medical care for patients.
  • Rounds and Evaluations: Conduct rounds on infirmary patients as directed by the CMO.
  • Documentation: Record medical information according to ODRC Office of Correctional Healthcare guidelines, documenting assessments, diagnostic impressions, treatment plans, and follow-up.
  • Collaboration with CMO: Cooperate with the CMO on medical quality oversight and accept guidance as needed.


Requirements:

  • Education: Master's Degree in Nursing.
  • Licensure: Valid Ohio Nurse Practitioner license.
  • Experience: At least 1 year of NP experience in primary care.


Certifications:

  • CPR certification (Healthcare-professional level).
  • DEA Certification (if available).
  • ANCC Certification.
  • Ohio Medical License (attached separately).
  • US Passport or Naturalization card (if born outside the US).
