Department Summary

The College of Biomedical and Translational Sciences (CBTS) takes great pride in shaping the future of the biomedical workforce with three areas of focus: education, student services and research. Our PhD, MS and undergraduate students are the educators, researchers and health care professionals of tomorrow. They also are fully engaged in innovative, ground-breaking research to tackle major health care issues such as cancer, cardiovascular disease and Alzheimer's disease.

Position Overview

This position is responsible for providing executive, administrative, and analytical support to a Department Head or Director. Responsible for a variety of complex decisions and administrative services including administration of a budget. This position interacts with offices including President, Vice Presidents and/or external constituencies while maintaining sensitivity to confidentiality and protocol. Coordinates activities and acts as university-wide liaison. Identifies issues or problems and researches solutions within specific management areas.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of related experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.

* Knowledge of accounting/budgeting procedures
* Ability to work under pressure, to adjust to constant changes, to handle multiple tasks, and to coordinate the work of others

* Ability to conceptualize, plan and organize multiple programs and assignments effectively

Job Duties:



  • Responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to:

    • Provides administrative support to the Assistant Dean for Undergraduate Education and the undergraduate biomedical science program (BS-BMSC) faculty.
    • Performs student wayfinding and limited academic advising; processes petitions for academic program changes; updates academic records; assists students with class information; distributes orientation information; receives and tracks various documents.
    • Maintains confidential files; coordinates records between University departments; serves as liaison for the school and university partners.
    • Prepares agendas, minutes, and makes arrangements, such as coordinating catering for luncheons, for committee, community, and other meetings.
    • Maintains and enters information into databases.
    • Manages paper or electronic filing systems, recording information, updating paperwork, or maintaining documents, such as attendance records ,correspondence, or other material.
    • Prepares invoices, reports, memos, letters, financial statements and other documents, using word processing, spreadsheet, database, or presentation software.
