Job Summary

The Illinois Shakespeare Festival is seeking applications for an Operations Manager for its 2025 summer season.

The Operations Manager for the Illinois Shakespeare Festival works with the Managing Director to organize and execute the daily operations of the Festival while at Ewing Manor. This position is a customer-facing representative during all Festival functions who works to ensure an efficient and smooth-running Festival.

Housing is available at a reduced cost beginning on May 19.

The Illinois Shakespeare Festival is a professional repertory theatre company that produces Shakespeare and contemporary plays in the spirit of Shakespeare every summer at the beautiful Ewing Cultural Center in Bloomington, Illinois. The Festival hires professional Directors, Designers, Actors, and production personnel and offers a variety of internships to students from Illinois State University and other colleges and universities. The Festival sells an average of 11,000 tickets per year, is supported by Illinois State University and the Illinois Shakespeare Festival Society and is preparing for its 48th season.

Salary Rate / Pay Rate

$17.00 per hour


Required Qualifications

  1. High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience
  2. Valid driver's license
  3. One year in a customer-facing position
  4. Cash handling experience
  5. Available to work May through August
  6. Must be 21 years of age or older at time of employment
  7. Ability to problem solve quickly
  8. Must complete First Aid/CPR Training prior to the start of the Festival performances and pass any certification necessary.


Preferred Qualifications

  1. Operations experience supervising staff of any size
  2. Familiarity with Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel)
