Provides students with an opportunity to serve as a representative of Career Discovery and Success and explore aspects of career counseling, coaching, and academic advising. In addition, they provide a friendly face for both Career Discovery and Success and Auburn University to all patrons, including employers who recruit on campus. All Career Discovery and Success Ambassadors are expected to support all major events hosted by Career Discovery and Success, as well provide traffic flow support during peak times within the Exploration Center. Those who serve as an Ambassador are also expected to engage in mandatory training, regular meetings, and supervision, as well as pre-schedule professional development sessions. Ambassadors also play a vital role in the recruitment and training of future Ambassadors.
Essential Functions

  • Provide peer-to-peer career coaching to students on career related topics.
  • Provide drop-in advising to exploration center students.
  • Support peers in the review and development of professional documents, such as resumes, cover letters, and personal statements, and assist in supporting job search skills during drop-in hours.
  • Serve as peer mentors in the Exploratory Courses, and provide support for outreach engagements, such as tabling, presentations, and workshops on key topics, such as Career Discovery and Success overviews, an introduction to resumes and cover letters, using Tiger Scheduler, and supporting the facilitation of Exploratory Panels, Backstage Pass Groups, and Major Fairs or related events.

Minimum Qualifications
Current Auburn University student.
Expectations:

  • Commit at least two full semesters
  • Maintain minimum GPA of 2.75
  • Available for Mandatory Training/Orientation Session prior to start of Fall or Spring semester
  • Attend pre-scheduled, regular Ambassador meetings, supervision, and professional development sessions
  • Commit to a minimum 32 hours per semester

Preferred Qualifications
Preferred applicants for Exploration Center position have a major in psychology, counseling, family studies, education, social work or related fields. The ideal candidate will have a background as a Exploratory student and will have ample summer availability.
Pay Rate $9.00/hour
