Senior Process Engineer (Multiple Locations)

DNV GL, USA
United States, Texas, Houston
Feb 28, 2025

DNV Energy Systems is seeking a Senior Process Engineer to join our Hydrogen and low-carbon fuels team. In this role, you will work with a group of process engineers, collaborating with other colleagues in identifying customizable solutions to clients' challenges in their energy transition endeavors. Your contributions will help maintain DNV's know-how around hydrogen as a fuel and feed to other processes. This know-how will readily respond to clients' requests in a fast-paced environment.

Hydrogen & Low Carbon Fuel aspires to become the preferred business partner to support customers in mitigating their risks by providing high-quality due diligence studies focusing on green hydrogen production and its integration to a supply chain or the production of derivatives such as ammonia, methanol or synthetic fuels. Among the challenges that a process engineer in the team will be facing are process modeling of several scales of a facility based on the customer's requirements and the preparation of Front-end Loading (FEL) documents from the identification of the opportunity (FEL 0) to Select (FEL 2).

This role is based out of any of the following DNV Offices (Houston, TX, Oakbrook, IL, Columbus, OH, Detroit, MI, Medford, MA, Miami, FL) presenting a dynamic hybrid schedule where employees will typically spend three (3) days per week working from either a DNV office or client location/site. Further details regarding role-specific requirements will be shared during the interview process.

What You'll Do

  • Perform technical due diligence on processes for producing and using hydrogen, including processes to make hydrogen-derived products such as methanol, ammonia, and synthetic fuels
  • Being able to scale down processes and their corresponding cost estimates matching customers' interests work in designing and optimizing production processes of different scales
  • Leverage a deep understanding of low-carbon fuel technologies and process modeling to predict and deliver scenarios supporting the customer's strategic decision-making process
  • Develop, lead, and coordinate mass and energy balance methodologies to assess end-use applications' technical and economic impacts
