Brookfield Zoo Chicago is known throughout the world as a leader in animal welfare and conservation, this venerable institution also serves as a potent economic engine, top tourism attraction, and award-winning educational institution. This position contributes to the success of Brookfield Zoo Chicago ("BZC") by providing the highest level of quality customer service and top-quality programming to camp and specialty program participants with a focus on creating and supporting inclusion practices in BZC programs. This role serves to further BZC's mission of inspiring conservation leadership and providing extraordinary guest experiences. 2025 Summer Camp dates are: June 9th - August 8th. There is no camp the week of July 4th. Camp staff training will take place the week of June 2nd. The anticipated start date for this role is May 4th to start making preparations for Camp. The typical scheduled hours for camp staff are 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.; until 5:00 p.m. for aftercare. Each staff member typically gets assigned one week of aftercare coverage. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: This position description summarizes the primary duties and functions of this position, but should not be considered a complete listing of every duty the incumbent may ever be called upon to perform. In order to successfully create a safe, fun and positive learning environment for program participants, daily interactions with campers, and their parents and/or guardians is an expectation. Incumbent must demonstrate a positive attitude and be a positive role model in assisting participants with all activities, games and projects that relate to the designated program themes. Summer Camp programs run from June through August. Pre-school camp is for children 4 and 5-years old, school-age camp is for children in grades K-5. The work schedule for this position is generally Monday through Friday, 7 to 8 hours per day in the summer months. This position also requires the availability to work the weeks that summer Zoo Camp is in session as well as attend all required trainings in the weeks prior to camp starting. All schedules are based on the needs of the operation. This is a temporary position.
