Surveyor in Training

Benesch is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our Pottsville team as a Surveyor in Training (SIT). This entry-level position is ideal for recent graduates or individuals in the early stages of their surveying career who are eager to gain hands-on experience and advance their expertise in boundary and engineering surveying under the supervision of our experienced survey staff.


Location

This role provides a mostly in the field and in office work arrangement, working closely with our team of experts in our Pottsville, PA office.


The Impact You Will Have

  • Assist in records research including deeds and maps.
  • Assist with conducting field surveys and operating survey instruments such as GPS, total stations, robotic instruments and levels to collect accurate data.
  • Complete construction survey stakeout.
  • Help in preparing and maintaining sketches, maps, reports, and legal descriptions of surveys to ensure they meet regulatory and company standards.
  • Work closely with the Lead Surveyor to interpret plans and conduct land measurement activities. Ensure the calibration and maintenance of survey instruments and equipment are carried out regularly.
  • Participate in the downloading/plotting and analysis of survey data and contribute to the drafting of topographical, boundary, and right-of-way maps.
  • Collaborate with project teams from various engineering disciplines to provide input on project planning and design.
  • Comply with all safety guidelines and procedures associated with survey activities.


What You Will Need

  • Associate or bachelor's degree in surveying, Civil Engineering, or related field.
  • Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Surveying (FS) exam preferred.
  • Proficiency with CAD software and surveying technology.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and traverse rugged terrain.
  • Valid PA driver's license
