Job Description

To manage and direct the activities of the Production Planning and personnel at the Lebanon facility. Includes education and knowledge to maintain inventory control for raw, WIP and finished goods materials, maintaining safety stock levels for standardization project, balancing ship date compliance, customer needs and machine efficiencies.

WHAT YOU GET TO DO

  • Provides a clear vision of goals and expectations for the Production Planning department and is experienced with the tools and training required to meet those expectations.
  • Manages and has a strong understanding of the activities of all direct reports, including employment interviewing, recommending salary changes, completing performance evaluations, counseling, telephone monitoring, discipline and recognition, maintaining incident files, training, and all other elements of management.
  • Manages the scheduling of orders and monitors material availability to insure that we will meet the scheduled ship date to our customers. Communicates unexpected delays to Customer Service.
  • Manages the backlog and works closely with the Production to overcome bottle necks and balance capacity loads across machines.
  • Prepares and distributes a daily schedule. Also conveys issues/concern during the daily production meeting with customer service group and production team.
  • Evaluates capacity for each machine.
  • Schedules all production equipment in most efficient/service oriented manner.
  • Communicate daily with the manufacturing staff on the current and future scheduling issues.
  • Coordinates R&D and Sales projects and maintenance downtime with manufacturing supervision.
  • Analyzes and prepares Production Planning reports such as back log reports, rerun reports, etc. as required on a daily, weekly and monthly basis and reports to upper management the findings and/or potential issues.
  • Oversees issues with SAP such as: material master issues, routings, production standards, machine and order status, etc. Contact necessary person if data is inaccurate.
  • Oversees and organizes responsibilities for Production Planner. Is trained and has experience in all areas for which staff has planning responsibility. Establishes cross training programs for direct reports implementing back up plans for vacations to maintain administrative efficiencies.
  • Acts as a liaison and participates in cross-functional teams with Operations, Shipping, Production, Planning, and Customer Service.
  • Monitors progress of key orders and identifies delays.
  • Monitors stock in raw, work-in-process and finished goods to maintain set inventory levels and prevent aged inventory. Implements processes to review monthly inventory levels with Production Planning and makes decisions on moving aged inventory when applicable. Monitors and maintains safety stock/standardization project with cross-functional locations as well as reviews with key personnel on a monthly basis.
  • Monitors shipments for requested date, promised date, and complete.
  • Responsible for master schedule for plant production equipment and makes key decisions which can impact plant performance, inventory and customer order dates.
  • Participates in special studies, and performs other duties as assigned by management.

WHAT WE VALUE

  • 3 years' experience and knowledge of supervisory / management duties and skills.
  • Must have an advanced level of computer knowledge and query skills to create and maintain reports.
  • High degree of skills and experience in inventory management.
  • An outgoing and confident personality.

WHAT WE WANT FROM YOU

  • A Bachelor Degree with an emphasis on business courses or the combination education and manufacturing/scheduling experience is required.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in a production planning role or a manufacturing support position, or equivalent experience in Production Planning/scheduling or Operations Management is required.
  • One to two years supervisory experience.
