Job Overview

The Logistics Operations Planning Analyst is responsible for efficiently planning 414,000 delivery and small store merchandising routes annually, delivering 365 million cases across 3 million stops and covering 32 million miles. This role directly impacts over 5,000 employees and 10,000 customers daily across various delivery modes. The analyst must ensure that warehouse service level agreements (SLAs) are met while optimizing the number of delivery vehicles based on volume, availability of internal resources, and external customer receiving hours using advanced tools such as SAP, LEO, Excel, and other online programs. The Route Planning Analyst will also schedule deliveries for Wholesale Clubs and ARTM customers using specific customer portals as needed.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • The Logistics Operations Planning Analyst is responsible for managing the planning process for 1.3 to 1.5 million cases each day, which amounts to over 365 million cases annually. This role involves planning 10,500 daily delivery stops, leading to more than 3 million per year. The analyst also plans 112,000 miles every day, totaling over 32 million miles per year, which directly impacts the company's expenses. The workday can vary depending on daily volume, holidays, and Fridays, as these factors require additional planning for the weekend and the following Monday.
  • The Logistics Operations Planning Analyst supports 68 warehouses and directly affects 5,000+ employees daily. In addition, the route planning analyst is responsible for determining the daily utilization of class A & B truck assets, which typically range from 1,500 to 2,000 delivery routes, and 600 small store merchandising routes, using advanced tools such as SAP, LEO, Excel, and TEAMS. Analysts also assess special delivery requests, ensure appropriate dock times for club stores, and collaborate with sales offices to confirm that sufficient resources are available daily.
  • The Logistics Operations Planning Analyst establishes and maintains effective planning data, communication, and relationships across multiple distribution centers and warehouses, including delivery supervisors, warehouse managers, distribution specialists, planning managers, and leads. This ensures optimal planning outcomes. The analyst provides daily recaps of the planning process and schedules meetings with warehouse and delivery team members to review routing productivity and past plans, identifying opportunities for improved efficiency.
  • Maintains accurate documentation and vehicle assignments for all distribution centers, such as customer-specific requirements, restrictions, points of contact, notes, and service level agreements, and accurate vehicle assignments that all directly impact the daily planning process.
  • The Logistics Operations Planning Analyst will participate in departmental meetings and one-on-one sessions to review updates about the company, department, and commercial strategy. Additionally, the analyst will examine route planning and sales reports, including key metrics, daily to identify areas for improvement and develop actionable plans.
