Location: This is a hybrid (virtual/onsite) position with required onsite days on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday assigned to the One Energy Plaza headquarterlocated in Jackson, MI. The selected candidate must be within a commutable distance or willing to relocate (relocation package is available for those that qualify). General Summary of Job Responsibilities The Security Engineeris responsible for planning and building effective computing solutions to increase the security posture of Consumers Energy cyber systems by direct and indirect interaction with business partners and implementation of projects. The incumbent will consult on the design, development, integration, and analysis of platforms, while working with systems, hardware, software, and variety of technical and non-technical teams to meet the business objectives in a secure manner. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Execute on assigned projects/enhancements by evaluating and developing secure solutions based on already created & approved security standards and architectures. Responsible for analyzing business impact and exposure based on emerging threats, vulnerabilities and risk. Recommendation shall be brought forward to Principal Engineers and Management Research, design, and advocate new security technologies and architectures while consulting with the Principal Engineer Select and execute the appropriate standard practices, procedures, and workflow for team activities, such as daily operating reviews, technical Implementations, standards development, lean methods to ensure gaps noted in processes are shared with the team for remediation. Responsible for recommending remediations for process improvements to the Principal Engineer Support business and IT projects to ensure designs are meeting applicable security standards. Work with Business partners and provide the Interpretation of the security standards. Assist in working through requirements questionnaire with business partners to ensure programs/applications are properly secured (Encryption, Authentication, etc.) Bring approval recommendations forward to principal team members and, at times, propose mitigations to minimize risk to the Organization if standards can''''t be met Build a strong relationship with internal and external teams by discussing emergent/new technology roll outs, participate in technical review meetings that include cross-functional teams both highly technical and non-technical personnel Provide Consultative support for Security Operations on any Tier 3 support issues Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Working knowledge of computer network concepts Ability to learn and adapt new concepts to build a professional body of knowledge Knowledge of Information Technology (IT) or Network systems and designs Excellent communication skills both written and verbal Awareness of security industry concepts, best practices, and trends Ability to adhere to company policies and best practices Education/Experience Bachelor's degree in Cyber Security, Computer Science, or Information Technology and2+years of experience, including in a production or academic setting, with cyber security and/or computer networks OR Associate's degree in Cyber Security, Computer Science, or Information Technology and 4+years of experience, including in a production or academic setting, with cyber security and/or computer networks OR High school diplomaand 6+years of experience, including in a production or academic setting, with cyber security and/or computer networks Why should you join our team?
