The Role:

The modern investor is constantly seeking more information to empower their decision making. We are seeking talented Senior Product Managers to drive the strategy, development, and go-to-market activities across a number of key platforms, from performance data to portfolio data. This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to be a driver of innovation at Morningstar.

In this role you will lead a cross-functional squad to execute on a portfolio of complex projects focused on illuminating the opaque components of an investor's holistic portfolio. You will own the development roadmap, working across job functions and geographies to implement new data, methodologies, and Morningstar IP.

These positions report to the Director of Product Management, and are located in our Toronto or Chicago offices.

Responsibilities:

  • Own the roadmap and development lifecycle for the squad

  • Develop business requirements and refine/validate with customers and stakeholders

  • Prioritize the backlog across multiple projects and workstreams within an Agile development framework

  • Understand both business and technology requirements, serving as a conduit between stakeholders and the squad

  • Track Key Performance Indicators and measurements of success as it relates to deploying new data and analytics

  • Be the voice of the market for the squad

  • Collaborate with data content researchers and local data consultants to gather external input to ensure your perspective remains relevant to external needs

  • Lead the analysis of build/buy/partner options for new data opportunities

Requirements:

  • 5-10 years of relevant experience in product management, business analysis or project management roles

  • A passion for data

  • A minimum of three years of experience working with Morningstar's current databases (RDB, SQL Mart, APIv2, XOI, etc.) is preferred

  • Experience growing a collaborative, cross-functional team

  • Experience working on an Agile scrum team, and good technical acumen required

  • Experience with Jira and converting designs and requirements into user stories

  • Excellent oral and written communication, planning, and analytical skills

  • Self-directed and detail oriented

  • A bachelor's degree; advanced degree or CFA a plus

  • Must be willing to occasionally connect with global colleagues at off-hours

Base Salary Compensation Range

$94,280.00 - 169,720.00 USD Annual

Total Cash Compensation Range

$117,850.00 - 212,150.00 USD Annual

Morningstar's hybrid work environment gives you the opportunity to work remotely and collaborate in-person each week. While some positions are available as fully remote, we've found that we're at our best when we're purposely together on a regular basis, typically three days each week.
