Academic Affairs - TRiO Programs - PRIME STEM Program:

The PRIME STEM Project/Student Support Services is designed to increase the college retention and graduation rates of its participants and to assist students make the transition from one level of higher education to the next. Short for, Purpose + Reach = Individuals Measured for Excellence (PRIME), PRIME STEM is tailored to meet the needs of 124 students who are pursuing and will be graduating in 6 specific STEM majors: Biology, Biomedical Sciences, Computer Science, Engineering, Health Sciences and Information Technology.

PRIME STEM recruits' students who are first generation in college students, who have a demonstrated financial need and/or those who have a documented disability.

The Opportunity:

UCF's TRiO PRIME STEM Program is currently accepting applications for an Academic Support Coordinator II. In this role, the primary goal is to support and guide our program students through their UCF journey. This position reports to the Program Manager of the Student Support Services Program and is responsible for providing direct student services and support. This is a full-time twelve-month position.

This is a Contract and Grant (C&G) funded position. Employment is subject to the availability of funding and may cease at the time funding for this employment is depleted.

Responsibilities:


  • Responsible for the recruitment, orientation/interviews, and intake of the required number of students approved by the Department of Education in order to meet the program goals and objectives.

  • Tracks SSS students' academic advising and participation requirements; assists participants with course selection to meet graduation requirements and develops/monitors Individual Academic Plans (IAPs).

  • Facilitate the delivery of required program services. Develop face-to-face and virtual learning materials, workshops, activities, and events. Manage the program's Canvas Learning Management course. Track and document student participation in project services.

  • Maintains appropriate and accurate student records; maintains contacts in Blumen database. Analyzes data, generates, and disseminates periodic reports (monthly and semester). Participates in program assessment: Institutional Effectiveness Plan (IE), Annual Report, and Competitive Preference Priorities (CPPs).

  • Supervises and evaluates the Academic Coach(es), Peer Tutor(s), Peer Mentor(s), and Digital Marketing Assistant. Oversee and participate in occasional evening, overnight, and off campus trips with participants.

  • Meet regularly with Program Manager for planning and implementation of activities in order to meet the objectives of the program. Attend staff and program meetings. Serve on division/university committees, as appropriate.

  • Develop collaborative relationships with student success coaching, student services, career development and other TRiO programs. Make appropriate referrals to other campus resources, as needed. Other duties as assigned by the Program Manager and/or Director, TRiO Programs.


Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's or Master's degree and 2+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219. Click here for more information

Preferred Qualifications:

We welcome candidates with experience in any of the following areas:


  • Experience in managing an academic caseload including documentation of records, communication with students, and making appropriate referrals.

  • Program development experience related to advising and career planning.

  • Experience working with high school or college students from varied backgrounds.

  • Experience working in higher education, with a preference for previous work with TRiO programs.

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Exceptional written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with students, faculty, and staff.

This position may be eligible for hybrid work environment after an initial training period based on department needs, supervisory approval, and university policy. The department's hybrid schedule allows for one day remote work per week.
