The Reprocessing Validation Engineer (RVE) I is responsible for technical support of hospital reprocessing validation of Smith and Nephew (SN) medical devices. The RVE must be able to follow documented test procedures that are in line with regulatory procedures for reprocessing. What will you be doing?
Evaluating and testing Smith and Nephew (SN) medical devices for validation of recommended hospital reprocessing procedures that includes cleaning, disinfection, and steam sterilization. Follow documented test procedures for validation that includes: the use of hospital reprocessing equipment i.e. autowasher/disinfector, ultrasonic cleaner and autoclave; chemical assaying, extractions, dilution techniques and use of a microplate reader. Collaborates with Reprocessing Validation project manager, Director of Validation and other Validation engineers, Development engineers, and Quality engineers to determine and achieve project goals and objectives. Documenting results in a laboratory notebook and required forms. Assists the Reprocessing Validation Project Manager with writing protocols and reports. Performs other duties as assigned. Coordinates and performs testing relating to the validation. Writes validation protocols and reports as required. Performs other duties as assigned
What will you need to be successful?
Experience:
1 year experience in reprocessing validation testing is preferred. Lab Skills: Pipetting, chemical extractions, dilution techniques, microplate reader, attention to details, lab safety, accurate recording of test results and data, creation and use of spreadsheet, teamworking, good documentation practices Requires organizational and time management skills. Ability to understand advanced mathematical concepts e.g. probability, statistical inference, calculus and algebra. An ability to work independently. Excellent verbal and written communication skills Proficiency in Windows and Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) Physical Demands: lifting 30 lbs, standing, and visual evaluations Travel Requirements: < 5%
