SUMMARY The Plant Operations Specialist will perform extensive and routine repair and preventative maintenance projects for Marrakech residential and commercial properties throughout the State of Connecticut. The work includes electrical, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, glazier, and painting tasks. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Independently performs minor and major repairs and routine maintenance for agency property (homes/offices) including vehicles.
- Diagnoses repair work needed and makes independent judgment of how to best handle the repair in the most timely and cost efficient manner.
- Assists with the renovation/remodeling of buildings; repairs plaster and drywall; paints building structures.
- Completes masonry work as needed.
- Repairs electrical equipment and replaces faulty electrical switches.
- Shampoo carpets as needed. Install carpeting and other flooring as needed.
- Completes lawn and garden care for the specified program sites.
- Replaces broken windows; repairs doors, door locks and closets; installs window blinds.
- Assists with program site/consumer moves.
- Picks up/drops off donations.
- Assists in maintaining agency vehicles in good/safe repair.
- Purchases supplies and equipment through requisition process.
- Maintains receipts and other required documentation to review with Supervisor.
- Ensures that after all jobs materials are stored and secured properly for safety and for preventative theft measures.
- Provides satisfactory customer service to program managers and consumers by completing tasks competently, on time, and by communicating clearly with all customers.
- Operates motor vehicles safely and in accordance with State Law (agency and personal automobiles) while on work related duties.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and five years of responsible experience in building and mechanical equipment maintenance and repair; or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience. Good skill in the use of hand and power tools. Must have own tools, specialty equipment will be provided.
SHIFT:
- M-F- 8a-4:30p (30min lunch) (40 FT)
