Office of Student Financial Assistance:

The Office of Student Financial Assistance, a unit within Student Success and Well-Being, is dedicated to supporting UCF's mission and goals through the efficient delivery of student aid. The Office provides UCF students with a comprehensive offering of financial assistance options to support student success and the attainment of a university degree.

The Opportunity:

UCF's Office of Student Financial Assistance, a unit within Student Success and Well-Being, is currently accepting applications for a Financial Coordinator I. This position is responsible for coordination and supervision of Satisfactory Academic Progress and Professional Judgment. Coordinates the Academic Appeal processes and assists in Dependency Override application processes.

This position/classification may be moved at management's discretion within the SSWB division to a commensurate level position as determined by the Vice President of Student Success and Well-Being or his/her designee.

This is an Auxiliary-funded position. Employment is subject to the availability of funding and may cease at the time funding for this employment is depleted.

Responsibilities:


  • Responsible for evaluating Satisfactory Academic Process Appeals, serving on the SAP committee.

  • Reviews appeal applications, makes appropriate award adjustments, and notifies the student of the results.

  • Assists in the Professional Judgement and Dependency Override processes.

  • Participates as a member of the Fee Appeals committee.

  • Advises and counsels students and parents regarding the financial aid process.

  • Analyzes and evaluates students' financial needs.

  • Advises on availability and sources of financial assistance including Pell Grant, Campus-based aid, Stafford loan, scholarships, and other programs.

  • Interprets to students the policies, the processes, and the regulations pertaining to financial aid and all aid programs.

  • Counseling occurs through personal interviews, by telephone, and email communications.

  • Assists in the presentation of financial aid information to groups of students, parents, high school counselors, and/or the general public in workshop or training sessions.

  • Attends professional workshops, meetings, and training sessions to assure adequate professional development and keep abreast of current rules and regulations.

  • Some evening and weekend hours may be required.

  • Performs other appropriate duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's or Master's degree and 0+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219. Click here for more information

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Knowledge of basic financial aid program requirements.

  • Knowledge of basic keyboard skills.

  • Proficient in Excel

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

  • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally, and in writing.

  • Ability to counsel and advise students.
