Our commitment to pay range transparency fosters an equitable workplace, where everyone can feel valued. The annual compensation range for this position is stated below. The salary offered within this range will be based upon the geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level. Salary Range:

$109,600.00 - $164,400.00

As a Staff Hardware Engineer - FPGA & Board Design at Plexus, you will design and develop electronic hardware for products across a wide range of industries. This role collaborates with talented software, mechanical, quality, manufacturing and test engineers throughout all phases of the product development life cycle - from idea and conceptualization; through requirements, design, and development; to manufacturing transition and into the market.

The Role:

  • Architect and design electronic digital circuitry for industrial, healthcare/life sciences, and aerospace/defense market sectors.

  • Demonstrate proficiency with HDL (i.e. VHDL, SystemVerilog, UVM tst benching) to model hardware behavior.

  • Optimize FPGA design for power, area and performance.

  • Implement fully self-checking test benches with directed and constrained random test cases.

  • Optimize FPGA pinouts and oversee PCB layouts of FPGA supporting circuitry.

  • Collaborate with a team of other digital, analog, software, mechanical, and system engineers to review and improve hardware designs.

Required Education/Experience:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering is required.

  • 10+ years of relevant experience is required.

  • Demonstrates experience in leading and owning the design of electronic products.

  • Proficient in design entry, synthesis, timing analysis/closure, and place and route using Vivado, Quartus and/or other development tools.

  • Proficient in schematic capture using CAD tools like Cadence, Altium, or Mentor and simulation tools (e.g. Matlab, Simulink).

  • Demonstrates experience and expertise in analogue and/or digital technologies.

  • Experience with microprocessor & microcontroller designs. Experience of board design using FPGA components.

  • Experience in designing digital interfaces (i.e. SPI, I2C, CAN, USB, Ethernet), memory devices and high-speed digital design.

  • Design for EMC/ESD and electrical Safety regulations and circuit techniques to achieve compliance.

  • Experience with electronic test and measurement equipment.

  • Experience in test verification techniques and board bring-up / qualification testing (e.g. EMC, Safety).

  • Design for Manufacturing and Test.

  • Ability to liaise with suppliers of key components and assemblies.

  • Ability to support business development as a technical expert and interact with external customers on a regular basis.

  • Ability to mentor team members as a part of design reviews.
